Would there be any interest in a book club for SoulCast participants?  All would be invited to join.

Here are my thoughts with regard to this -

  1. We choose a book democratically (anything from spiritual, fiction, non-fiction, text, etc.) that a majority of people would be interested in.
  2. We choose a date within which to begin reading the book (for example 3 weeks to read a certain number of pages).
  3. We discuss it - intelligently, with humor, with wit, etc.

So.... anybody got any thoughts on this or want to join?  Please sign up below and write the name of a book that you think would be great for the first one.

I'm in, though I'm not reading anything noteworthy at the moment.  I'm open to suggestion.

All right!!  my first participant Unique.  Is there a book that you have always wanted to read but haven't?
  • wombat said on Mar 07, 2008....
I'd love this, but the problem with me is I get most of my books from the library.  I seldom spend money to buy current books--but I could make an exception from time to time in order to join in.  I will keep my eyes open here and see how it goes.  I read almost (too) constantly.

Wombat - there is usually no problem if you get library books - we will take that into consideration for all participants.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head.  I'm pretty book friendly and don't put off reading something even if the $$ look scary.  Let me do a little browsing this weekend and get back with a couple of possibilities.

Sounds cool and groovy to me, UI - I will do the same on my end.  In fact, I was thinking about hitting the NYTimes Best Sellers list first...

Sounds fun!  I'm reading this medieval murder mystery now.
  • FutureGoddess said on Mar 07, 2008....

Hey Pickers - love the fact that you want in!  Finish that book and we will come up with something that as many people as possible have not read yet.  But I like Medieval, I like Murder mysteries and will have to check that book out soon.

I have so many books around the house and it's too cluttered with books, plus I would prefer to save money, so I've been more into going to the library these days. As for recommending books, the first one that came to mind is one that I read already, called Disposable People, by someone named Bales I think, and I don't think it would be in many libraries.

Ooo!  Ooo!  Pick me!  Pick me!

No, Grace - I won't pick you!  But I am happy you picked this!  Welcome aboard!!!  I would love to have you involved.

I'd love to participate.  I'm like Wombat and get my books at the library.  I'm re-reading the complete collection of Sherlock Holmes so I can start a new book anytime!
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Mar 08, 2008....
Perhaps...  I'm pretty picky about the books I read, though...  Old books I re-read because I find them comforting, but new books I find to be a little scary sometimes...

I am, however, open to suggestions.

How about Bill Cosby's Come on People. Caught him on Opie the other day and sounded possible. I wanna join.
  • FutureGoddess said on Mar 08, 2008....

Ed - you are always more than welcome to join.

Joy - like I said, we will try to do a book that will be easily accessible from libraries

Grape - I re-read books a lot too - but always looking to move forward

Husbandhater - nice suggestion, let's see what else comes up.

I would love to join too. I don't have any suggestions right now, but i'm sure that I could roam through my bookshelves and peruse all the books I have that I have yet to read to come up with a few suggestions.

Whatever it is, my opinion is sure to stick out like a sore thumb. Par for the course. Everyone will like it, I'll find fault with it.
