Pickers: This just shows you how my brain is wired. I see M-W-F and automatically read it as "Monday, Wednesday, Friday".
  • pickersplock said on Mar 07, 2008....
No, it has to be every day of the week, or no deal!

BTW, I apologize for these seemingly random, mid slips!
    I don't know what's come over me lately!  :)
  • pickersplock said on Mar 07, 2008....
I fixed the title, just to be on the safe side! LOL
P.S.- That should be mind slips, not mid slips!
    What are mid slips anyway?
"I was in mid slip, when I realized I had left my oven on, and the cookies were burning!"
  • Fallyn said on Mar 07, 2008....
i think a mid slip is a piece of lingerie actually.

  • uniquely-ironic said on Mar 07, 2008....
LOL  If you find this perfect human and he has a brother, drop me a line.
  • wombat said on Mar 07, 2008....
My cool comment got eaten, whatever it was. Then I got shut out of SC altogether.  But the tag "having fun" drew me here. Shows my state of mind when I can't remember what I just said 5 minutes ago!  But I typed in a users name that I figured would work, and got back in to SC.
  • gingersoul said on Mar 07, 2008....

Well, I was in a huge mid slip when i stumbled in this post and i semi thought "What the heck is Picker talking about"?

    So....what are you talking about?

  • pickersplock said on Mar 07, 2008....

    Mensa whores for all!
Why is it, that I find the male mensa whore more believable that the female?

    uh.....you lookin for a straight male? ;p
  • pickersplock said on Mar 07, 2008....
Well, since sex would not be involved, I guess it wouldn't matter on way or the other!
  • lfbno7 said on Mar 07, 2008....
ha. well i qualify on some of those. but i don't think i'd be able to make it all the way to kapuchkie ny. and i'm a stick in the mud pretty much.
  • travelr712 said on Mar 07, 2008....

you had me at hello. you had me at hello.

Politics and religion? Okay. Philosophy? Definitely.

But that other stuff? I have no clue. Give me Heinlein, Herbert, Tolkien, Pournelle, and Niven and Shakespeare, Heavy Metal Magazine, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Kiss, and Green Day.

Or if you prefer, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, and Toby Keith.

Science and mathematics are a plus. Geek pop culture is a definite plus! Monty Python, Kids in the Hall, (old) Saturday Night Live.

You must, of course, know the Answer to the Question of the Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything. You must be able to have an effective argument in the battle between Kirk and Picard.

You must not only know who Stephen Hawking, Steve Wozniak, and Steve Jobs are, but also why they are three of the most important Earthlings in the history of the universe. The Tao of Steve.

You must know the purposes of the semicolon, both in prose and in computer code.

  • travelr712 said on Mar 08, 2008....
there was a mensa member that did one of the 'apprentice' series. he was out in like the 4th round. turns out he was good at factual knowledge, but not good at putting it into practice. personally, i don't think mensa is anything more than a way for people with highly measured IQ's to condecend to those who are not in their club.
  • pickersplock said on Mar 08, 2008....
Very true!  no commo sense!  But still good for intelligent discussions, right?
    How's everything Trav?
  • pickersplock said on Mar 08, 2008....
Darn N!  Always sticks again!  Thought it was fixed!  commonnnn!
  • moonriver said on Mar 08, 2008....
    male... check

mensa... no need; i don't join groups that will have someone like me as member

long walks... check. git yer hiking boots ready ma'am.

lunch... nah, i dont do lunch

willing to discuss politics... global, yes; american, not on your life

...and religion... sure why not; let's start with the ancient celtic cults

btw, your literary list lacks an E. it has an A, B, C, D, and F. but not an E. i think infernal would agree if you add emerson. maybe t.s. eliot? uhm, maybe i can hack it. but would you kindly go further to G for garcia marquez?

fine arts.... definitely. my strong card.

    opera... uhm not so much...

basic BBM... definitely. include handel for good measure

avante garde dance performances? arrrgghhhhh lemme outta here!

no science and math? why not? why not? why particularly not? my strongest cards... :-)

flirtation... nah, i dont do flirtation. i seek my prey, i focus on it, i set the trap, and then i go quietly to work in a long-haul way. you could say i'm results-oriented.

little or no pay? ... ok, if there's enough fringe benefits, stock option, and other incentives.

duhh... one more thing. why is there no mention of all-night trampoline sessions? if i have to be mensa whore, i'd like to do business on a trampoline, thank you.

  • pickersplock said on Mar 08, 2008....
Trampoline?  Well, as long as there are snacks involved, we could substitute that for the lunches. There would have to be drinks of some kind after!
  • travelr712 said on Mar 08, 2008....
things are going pretty good pickers, thanks for asking. howabout you? didja work things out with mr. p? and i agree, good for discussion.
  • moonriver said on Mar 08, 2008....
trampoline.... check. must be nasa-certified. you can't imagine how high we could get on these thingies nowadays.

snacks and drinks.... check. must be nasa-certified.

  • pickersplock said on Mar 08, 2008....

Everyone around here is so touchy lately!
    Hurry up spring!
  • GrapeKoolaid said on Mar 09, 2008....
Umm...  Am I late for registration here?  I don't know if I can live up to your high expectations, but I could give it a go.  I'm fairly chatty and have a pretty wide rage of interests including, but not limited to the qualities listed above...

I'm most certainly a whore, but no Mensa whore.  An attention whore, maybe...  :)
  • travelr712 said on Mar 09, 2008....
lol pickers! i don't know what he did, but whatever it was, he did it good! :-P
  • gingersoul said on Mar 09, 2008....

    Grapey.....as i already told you...you have the honorary membership....lol...

    Pickilish...i know you will agree...

Moon.....ehi, why stopping at the F? I say at least reach the P (as Pablo Neruda)

  • pickersplock said on Mar 09, 2008....
Grape, according to some people, we're all attention whores!
Which is weird because a whore, differs from a prostitute in that she has a lot of sex with a lot of people and doesn't charge.  Am I right people?
So, by definition, we give a lot of people a lot of attention, and we don't charge.
That would make a novelist or reporter, the prostitute, at least in this scenario!

    I clearly need a vacation.
    Hi, Ging and Trav!
  • dyingman said on Apr 09, 2009....
    Work something out?
We sure would.  Dyingwife would insist on being part of the negotiations.
She's an artist though.  You'd get along great.

    Uh oh...  what if....

  • pickersplock said on Apr 09, 2009....
    Don't even go there!
