Well, here it is.  My complete list. I am taking up the challenge.

I meant to start my 101 in 1001 on February 1.  In fact, I posted this list to SC that day.  But I drafted it because it wasn't at 101 yet.

Then....

Well, life got hectic and I had some family issues to deal with.  My father's been sick.  Other family members have been sick and in and out of the hospital.  We aren't a particularly close family but seem to rally together when anyone is sick.  (Which may point to some items on my list.)

My new goal date for starting the 101 in 1001 is March 15th.  Yes, the Ides of March.  Let's hope it's a more auspicious day for me than it was for Caesar.

Health and Fitness Goals
  1. Lose 65 pounds.
  2. Establish and keep a cardio routine and a strength-training routine.
  3. When I get bored with certain types of exercise, find new ways to incorporate exercise to keep me motivated.
  4. Keep a fitness journal to help me be accountable for sticking to an exercise programme.
  5. Keep a food diary to help me understand my eating habits.
  6. Drink more water (2-3 quarts a day)
  7. Cut down substantially on my carbonated beverage consumption, specifically soft drinks
  8. Increase my fiber intake.
  9. Take my supplements and vitamins daily.
  10. Eat more whole grains.
  11. Eat more fruits and vegetables.
  12. Study Tai Chi.

Personal Goals

  1. Blog more frequently--at least three times a week.
  2. Keep a journal about meeting my 101 in 1001 goals (perhaps here on SC.)
  3. Finish this list by March 14th.  :)
  4. Stop ripping my nails, let them grow, and keep them manicured.
  5. Make more of an effort to keep in touch with my friends.
  6. Make a master list of birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates for friends and family.
  7. Do a better job of sending cards for special occasions.
  8. Go on a "real" vacation.
  9. Spend more time with friends outside of work.
  10. Upgrade my computer.
  11. Find more balance.
  12. Take two hours one afternoon a week just for "me" time.
  13. Be more patient--in general.
  14. Work on improving the communication with my husband.
  15. Take more time to celebrate the little things in life.

Home

  1. Carve out a place in my flower bed to grow herbs.
  2. Be more proactive about curtailing clutter.
  3. Be more consistent with housework.
  4. De-clutter the coat/storage closet under the steps.
  5. De-clutter the storage closet in the spare bedroom.

Learning/Educational Goals

  1. Brush up on my Portuguese.
  2. Read Shakespeare's Complete Works
  3. Read all of James Patterson's Alex Cross Mysteries in chronological order.
  4. Read Stephen King's Works.
  5. Start a book club.
  6. Read Dumas' works.
  7. Study astronomy.
  8. Study the Bible--read all of it.
  9. Read Foucault's Pendulum.
  10. Read Ayn Rand's works.

Craft/Hobby Goals

  1. Learn to knit.
  2. Learn to make soap.
  3. Learn to make candles.
  4. Learn to make hemp jewelry.

Epicurean
  1. Learn more about wine.
  2. Learn more about coffee--growing, harvesting, selecting quality beans, different aromas and strengths.
  3. Learn more about tea.
Well, it's more complete than it was.  My goal is to complete it the day before I start.

I'm doing 101 things in 1001 days, too.  Good luck to you.

BW, good to see you starting on one of 'em by blogging this. :> i'm a bit of a dumas fan--w/ which of his works are you familiar? and how much of his oeuvre do you want to explore?

re: wine, i was finding it helpful to keep a wine journal: take pictures of the label (or peel 'em off) and write down your observations. i find it easier to work w/ electronic files than physical notebooks, so that's my preferred method. having said that: i haven't updated the thing in a few years now--oops!

BW: This is a really nice start on your list. I'm looking forward to seeing the complete one.

    Thanks Eilan and Zayda.

Silver: I'm not sure what you mean by oeuvre.  I haven't read any of Dumas' works since college when I was assigned them, and I'm afraid I didn't actually even finish them then.

Well, I'm not much for keeping journals, and as you can see, I don't blog much either. But maybe I can blog about the wines I try on here.  That will kill two birds with one stone so to speak.  As for writing down observations, since I know so little about wine in the first place, I'm not sure what observations I would even write down.  And since I can write down the information on the label there is really no point in taking pictures.

sorry--"oeuvre", meaning his collected writings. heh...start talking to dumas and my raging francophile leaps in joy... :>

don't worry about your observations--just go with what feels right for you. also, consider one of the books by andrea immer--she's a sommelier who's been featured a few times on food network shows in the past. she has a knack for making wine very approachable.

me, i take pictures so i remember what the bottle looks like in the store, in case i wanna get it again. :>

I know its not even thanksgiving yet. But I wanna remind everyone to begin thinking about there New Years resolutions....
I am turning 24 in 10 days. I know this isn't exactly old, or anything, but I am feeling like I have gotten this far in my life and have not reached hardly ANY of the goals or places I would have liked to reach by now. So, I am creating a bibucket list....
A major ingredient of success is worthy goals and ideals. Perhaps your deepest subconscious drive, according to Dr. Viktor E. Frankl, author of Man’s Search for Meaning, is the need for meaning and purpose in life....
