Hi Everyone!

My name is Mr.Stupid, I came here to learn. I am not totally stupid, but I know my limitations!

I didn't go to college. I went to grade school, then Jr. High school, then High school.

I didn't like school much. Kids picked on me because I was smaller than them. Then in High school they stopped because I got bigger than them.

I need spell checker.

When I was 5 years old, I stuck a pair of tweezers in an electrical outlet. I won't do that again.

I ask a lot of questions.

Like this one.    What are these ;;;;;;;;;;;; ? I know they are punctuation, but what are they for?

i like your style. you have at least three life lessons clearly defined in there:

    1. try to grow from small to big... but you can't rush it.
    2. never stick a pair of tweezers into an electrical outlet.
    3. always ask questions about stuff you don't know.

i think that's a great start for you, sir. now it's just a matter of adding numbers 4, 5, 6... and so on. remember not to stop at number 20! you have to go further than that.

oh, about ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; -- i think it stands for a tire track. what a tire track is supposed to be doing in a blog, i have no idea. let's ask an expert. don't worry... we're in this together.

  • Mr.Stupid said on Mar 07, 2008....
A tire track? Oh I get it. ok. no what is that? ; How do you use it right?
  • moonriver said on Mar 07, 2008....
    i was just joking, man.

this mark ; is called the semi-colon, and used mostly to separate independent clauses in a sentence.

the only non-punctuation usage i know is when you combine the semi-colon, hyphen and close parenthesis to show a winking face. ;-)

I like your style too mr stupid :-)
    welcome to soulcast!! xx

Hello, MrStupid.  Welcome to SoulCast!  In addition to keeping tweezers out of electrical outlets, be sure to keep your arms and hands inside the car at all times.  ;)

    hey there stupid!
i can tell you're gonna be alot of fun....
  • Mr.Stupid said on Mar 07, 2008....
I just wanted to check before I went to work this morning if anyone was going to comment.

    I am surprised!

Moonriver,  A semi-colon huh? That kind of sounds like what you would get if you got rear ended by a 18 wheeler!
Maybe someone could give me an example of how it is used, so I can get a better idea of how to use it right?

Destinydiva, Thank you, I really do want to learn everything that I have missed already in life. No matter how small it is!

MissMimi, I used to watch my dad when I would ride in the car with him, back when I was a little boy. He would usually have the window down, resting his elbow on the door and holding on to the top of the door jamb. I wanted to be just like him, but my arm was too little to reach. Now if you do that and get in an accident, all of those airbags might break your arm clean off!

silverwhisper, I guess you are another student too then. Should we call this place SoulCast University?

secretlife, I like to have fun, it is more fun than not having fun!

Thank you everyone. Like I said before, I am here to learn. I have noticed that when we learn, we teach sometimes too!

I will consider all of you my Teachers. Fell free to jump in anytime and teach me something. Spelling, punctuation, grammar, whatever.
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 07, 2008....
i've often felt that talking w/ people is the best way to learn, so sure, i think that would make sense. :>

  • TinSoldier said on Mar 07, 2008....
    u-i -- hahahaha!

Another use for semi colons is to terminate a statement in the C computer programming language (and a few others).

Welcome, fellow uneducated person! Tell us a little more about yourself.
  • travelr712 said on Mar 07, 2008....
hello mr. stupid. your sense of humor shows that you are not really stupid. you may not have been educated in some academia, but that does not equate to stupid.

here are some examples of the use of the semi colon, or as you think of it, a hemi hemorrhoid:

  • I am not alone; my wife came back to me.
  • I traveled to Cambridge, England; Tijuana, Mexico; and Paris, France.
  • Lisa scored 2,845,770 points; Marcia, 2,312,860; and Sam, 1,726,640.

  • it is used to properly separate two subjects that are related, but don't form a flowing sentence. many people use a coma, including me, where the rules of grammer state a semi colon should be used.

just fyi, i found these examples by typing 'semi colon' into the google search bar. most, if not all, of your questions can be answered by using that simple tool, expecially definitions. such as, if you want to know how to properly spell a word, type that word into the search bar and it will return many websites with the proper spelling. or, if you'd rather start a conversation, just post it in a blog, and you'll have ten people answer you.

    welcome to soulcast.

  • Mr.Stupid said on Mar 07, 2008....
Nice of all of you to welcome me here! Thank you!

silverwhisper, Hello again! Should I call you Ed? I see that at the end of all of your comments.

Me-Myself&I, Hi! Your name reminds me of a movie I saw a few years back. It was about a cop that goes crazy. It was very funny. He got his thumb shot off.
Do you know what that was? And who was in it?

Wombat, Nice to meet you! What is a wombat exactly? Is it a kind of a bat?
I liked that movie too! I guess you could say I am kind of like Forest. He was learning too!

uniquely-ironic, Hello! No I won't use tweezers like that again. I don't like to be shocked. I have been shocked at least 4 more times since then.

Madd-Shame, Hi there! I am sure I could learn something from you. I think everyone has something to teach!

pickersplock, Hi, yes I read a couple of your funny stories. I probably said something stupid.

Tinsoldier, Hello! What is u-i? I tried to learn computer language once. I bought a book, it was c++. I think I got an F though. I tried to do a program, copied it right out of the book, and it didn't work.
Maybe I will tell more about myself later. I would like this journey to last.
That reminds me of traveling with my family when I was a little boy. The mystery was what made it fun!

traveler712, Hi, and thank you for the compliment!
I'm glad your wife came back!
Sounds like you have been to some interesting places. I have never been very far from this country. Just the bahamas. Oh and Canada. That sounds like their national anthem.
What were Lisa, Marcia, and Sam playing? Asteroids maybe? Those are pretty good scores! I had an Atari game console when I was a teenager. I liked that game.
Thank you so much for the tips on the semi-colon. I hope I can remember that. I guess I can always come back here and brush up.
I like the conversation method better, don't you?

    lfbno7, Hello!

  • TinSoldier said on Mar 07, 2008....
Programs often don't work. That's why programmers get paid lots of money, to rewrite stuff that should have been written right in the first place!

Heh. "u-i" was just an abbreviation for uniquely-ironic's name. Like "Tin" or "TS" would be short for me.

I have an Atari 2600 game console in my garage (it belongs to my wife). I also have a Nintendo NES, an Apple ][+, and much other old junk.

G'day MrS..... dunno how smart you will get hanging round this lot!
  • Mr.Stupid said on Mar 08, 2008....
TinSoldier, thanks for clearing that up! I thought it might have been a medical term or something. I have heard of a g.i. before, but not a u.i.
You should have a yard sale. I bet someone would buy that stuff!

polarheart, Hello, thank you, I hope to!

ed, thanks! That is much easier!

rupert7, g'day! Don't people from Austrailia say that? You must be from there?

I think you can learn from anybody, even those old guys you see on tv shining shoes in big cities. He could definately teach you how to shine a shoe really good. And maybe he could teach you something about being married for 50 years. Or raising kids. Who knows?
  • travelr712 said on Mar 08, 2008....
lisa, mark and sam were playing pinball. i have been to some interesting places, taiwan and japan among them.

the rest of my comment got eaten! i hate when that happens!

all i can remember that i said was, yes, i like the conversation method too, guess that's one reason we're both here, huh?
