PapaJ & Cry’s Last Post!
Y’all know how much Dee has loved Soul Cast. She blogged sometimes around the clock it seemed to me.
Time she needed to be resting, and trying to regain her strength. But when she would lay down a lot of the times, she found it hard to breathe.
No matter how much she tells me that blogging does not make her anxious, I think it does. I watch her and I see the anxiety.
It hasn’t been without its rewards, but the way this day and too many others played out, I think the negative outweighed the positive.
I told the doctor I thought she was at the computer to much and he agreed with me, but for a different reason.
He said she has never regained her strength since July, the first visit to the hospital, and he sees her continuing to deteriate, according to her records. This was the first time she actually saw him, but it is all there in the records.
We have a membership to Genesis Health Club, and He said he wants her to start out twice a week and graduate to three times a week.
First she needs to get rid of a bad lung infection she has at the present. For that he has put her on bed rest. He said to treat it like she had the flu.
To start out, she will be getting two breathing treatments a week and will graduate up to three. He is doing it this way because he wants to see how she tolerates the treatments. With her being sick and all and little strength he says even that can deplete her strength.
Now the diagnosis: She explained to you that she had ( COPD ) which is chronic obstructive lung disease. The type she has is Emphysema, which is a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
We think in her case, it was caused by long-term exposure to tobacco smoke. She did work for several years around toxic chemicals, but we think it is more likely that it is due to her smoking.
She has smoked that I know of since she was 21. She has said it was younger than that, but not regularly till she started working as a waitress, and told me that everyone smoked.
She only stopped smoking five years ago. So, she has smoked for Thirty years, and with her asthma, you can guess what that did to her lungs.
There are two different faces of emphysema, primary and secondary, and she has secondary which is more serious. Probably due to years of chronic bronchitis.
Prescriptions:
Spiriva Inhaler ( tiotropium bromide inhalation powder ) and ADVAIR. She is on a strong antibiotic. She is one sick lady.
We wish you all well, and she may end up doing her own blog at some later date, but I will try to discourage that because the longer she prolongs leaving the harder it will be.
She needs to be out moving and not sitting here at the computer. The doctor was very concerned because when he listened to her back, he heard no movement of air which suggests the air is trapped, and we need to get her moving as soon as she get well enough to do so.
Right now she is on steroids and Azithromycin, a strong antibiotic. She goes back for a recheck next Monday. Take care y’all!
