In February before Lola’s birthday the minister Maurer signed reluctantly Lola’s document of nationalization.

Time goes by and Lola is on a holiday with Ludwig the king in Bad Brückenau.

The queen is elsewhere on a holiday. The crown prince Maximillian is also in Baückenau and he refuses, of course to see Lola. The king divides his time between the prince and Lola.

She is getting impatient because the king has not made her a countess yet as he has promised.

The king and Lola quarrel a lot and she packs and threatens to go. The king begs her to stay.

The king had told Maurer that he had no intention of making her a countess.

After the holiday Lola goes home to Munich. She is being boycotted by the kings cabinet. If they are seen at her place they will be boycotted.

Elias Preissner visits Lola and she promises the new fraternity Allemannia, their own caps and a fraternity insignia.

Soon the Allemania is always by her side. 15 young university students. They are like a little army abound her and the king has also put 9 gendarmes as guard by her house.

He fears for her safety . She got into a scrap that summer when she visited Würzburg. There she was on a promenade with some friends and she wanted to go into a park. She had her dog Zappa with her.

 About 200 curious people were following her and her friends. A senty by the park tells her that dogs are forbidden in the park. It is also forbidden to smoke or walk on the grass. One of her mail companions picks Zappa up. But her sentry reaches for the dog, some say Lola and she is always so quick when she thinks she is being attacked, she slaps him. That made the crowd furious . They once again start hissing and whistling, calling and threading.    

They follow the company to a house where a dinner is being held for Lola and they stand outside making noise and ruckus. Lola’s empty carriage is sent off and the crowed goes away.

I was talking about the Allemanians They are always with Lola and to the thinking of the people in Munich at the time a woman who was seen with men that were not blood related to her was no better than a whore.

The king has changed his mind about making Lola a countess. Now he wants to do that and he asks his minister Maurer to sign the countess diploma. He is reluctant. He  knows that this will be a disaster for him.. He refuses. Then he asks the king to give him estate commensurate  with a rank and to make his son a professor at the University with 1000 florins per year. The king is furious.

He commands Maurer to sign and he does. Still the king gave Maurer's son a professorship at the university but he did not do the other things.

Ludwig wants to give Lola the document on his birthday the 25th of August and he does. At first Lola is very happy to be the countess of Landsfeld but then some friends tell her that this means nothing because the king has not publicly announced it in the official paper, she is not a countess.

Lola is hurt and writes the king a letter telling him he has degraded her. He announces Lola’s elevation to the nobility.

Soon after that Ludwig gets a letter from his wife. She is hurt by all this and she said that she will never receive Lola at the court. She will never see her face to face she says.

The king is behaving like a love sick boy. He has a flannel that Lola wore near her body and he sends it to her saying that she should remember to wear it in the two secret places. She is to send it back to him.

He published a book of poems. I think his 3rd volume and it is full of love poems to L. He is talking nonsense to her and demanding her love and affection.

While he was away from her in the summer he wrote her a lot of letters, asking her to write to him and to number the letters and when she answers refer to his numbered letter.

She never wrote. He has a obsession about her food and is kissing it and licking it. She refuses sex. She has fear of becoming pregnant and she often has bad menstrual pains. In the summer she also had bad fever and was treated with quinine. It seems like she had contracted malaria in India.

Soon Lola had been a year in Munich. The king had spent   100.992 florins on her. This is a heap of money still he decides to give her 20.000 florins a year instead of 10.000.
