We had the major snow storm of our winter, so far, yesterday. It began snowing just after 8 p.m. Monday night and snowed for the majority of the night. Then it petered off a bit, but began snowing again early this morning.
By noon Tuesday, we had 8 inches of snow and it was still snowing, although lightly. And, as I write this blog Tuesday night, it is snowing again, a fine mist of a snow.
Our overnight snow was the first wet heavy snow of the season; all the others had been fine powdery dry snow--not the kind that you could make snowballs or snowmen with, much to the disappointment of our son. But this snow was different; big tufts of snow covered everything:

The people who lived in the house prior to us left this old trailer in the back yard. I love the look of it covered in snow.

And I love the look of the "tufts" of snow in the branches of this small tree across one street from us.
Snow Tufts in Tree
It had been warm here lately, so it looked like we had some buds on one of our trees, which now were embracing heavy clumps of snow.
Buds and Snow
Much to our son's delight, he got to have a snowball fight with his dad while they were shoveling the driveway and sidewalks and then with both his mom and dad when I came outside.
And he was ecstatic about getting to build his first snowman of the winter.
Little Man's Snowman
In fact, he and Mr. Z were having so much fun working on our snowman that they, much to my chagrin, inspired the two girls who are college students and live across the street from us to skip their afternoon classes and build their own snowman. They invited the little man over to help them and among the three of them decided to build the biggest snowman they could.
When they couldn't roll the bottom snowball any more, my husband went across the street to lend a hand and I wandered over to join them all as well.
Two hours later, we had a snowman that was taller than their house.
Giant Fiesta Snowman
We decided he needed to be a bit festive, so he's wearing a sombrero that the hubby and I have had since our wedding and sunglasses, plus his mouth is made from actual dental impressions that one of the girls had.
Then, we added a second snowman on the other side of their front sidewalk to party with the giant snowman. Apparently, this one is dancing to Stayin' Alive
