“The function of fire is to burn and give light. The function of water is to wash away filth. The winds blow away dust and breathe life into plants, animals, and human beings. The earth produces the grasses and trees, and heaven provide nourishing moisture. The five characters of Myoho renge kyo are also like that.”

“The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life.”  The writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1 p.218

My soul is enflamed by the sorrows I see in this life, the fire of suffering is burning bright for all to see, yet it seems that most are walking with their heads down not looking up to the horizon to see that suffering is all around us.  I await the soothing water of mankind to heal the hurt, cleanse away all the stench of rottenness left over from past generations. I want to feel the a spirit of respect and reverence for all living things. A thankfulness for all the planet does for us. But the fire burns brighter every day and drought is present. There is no wind and all that is being produced is anger, hate, violence, famine, sickness and death.

So I will continue to chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo so that peace will someday be the way of the land and caring for each other will be as natural as breathing

ed namu (nam) is from sanskrit and the rest is chinese. kinda of a mix of western and eastern lanuguages. Which is kinda cool because it represents the univerisality of what we practice daily.

    Hi Namyogrl,

I am inspired how strong your faith is despite the not so pleasant happenings.  Can you share with me what keeps you going?  I am chanting also and has been an SGI member for several years.  Somehow, when things get rough, I am not as strong as are.  Regards...

Binondogirl, Thanks so much for stopping by, sometimes it takes so much effort to chant. but that seems to be a signal to me that is exactly what i should be doing. I have practiced for seven years now and i can say that i have learned so much about self.

As we read through the Bible and obey it, God's Word becomes our spiritual food and our source of strength and spiritual insight to accomplish His will....
As Christian's we learn that the just shall live by faith alone, so what is faith and how do we get it....
You do not have to live in bondage to things that you have done in the past nor things that others have done to you. Set yourself free through none other than through the Lord, Jesus Christ....
