“The function of fire is to burn and give light. The function of water is to wash away filth. The winds blow away dust and breathe life into plants, animals, and human beings. The earth produces the grasses and trees, and heaven provide nourishing moisture. The five characters of Myoho renge kyo are also like that.”
“The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life.” The writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1 p.218

I await the soothing water of mankind to heal the hurt, cleanse away all the stench of rottenness left over from past generations. I want to feel the a spirit of respect and reverence for all living things. A thankfulness for all the planet does for us. But the fire burns brighter every day and drought is present. There is no wind and all that is being produced is anger, hate, violence, famine, sickness and death.
So I will continue to chant Nam Myoho Renge Kyo so that peace will someday be the way of the land and caring for each other will be as natural as breathing
