I bought a stupid CD player with radio to stick in here with me in the computer room and no matter what CD I put in, it skips.  I thought it was because I had a few scratches on some old ones I hadn't listened to lately and maybe didn't take care of back "in the day."

You know those days....when you woke up the next morning and realized you played some tunes but didn't care if they made it back in the case-----you'll get it later......

But I am starting to wonder.  I have tried about five CD's and had a problem with one song or another.  I have jumped up to bang on the lid more than once.

I guess that's why everything you don't really want, but do, costs $19.95.

Got U2 in right now--and it skips to the first song.

Should I try one more?  Or accept defeat?

(I still haven't found what I'm looking for?)

Got "The Beatles/ 1967-1970"  in right now just to see.....so far so good.

I am the Walrus---I mean the Wombat.

I think I scratched a few good ones from days of yore.

I hope I had a good time that night.....

WOMBIE!!!  I found a cure on line to skipping CD'S!!!
I should add this to Bottie's household hints.

You put a thin layer of mayo on the back of the CD and wipe off with a soft towel!  I know, mayo sounds gross, but it's worth a shot and you can test it out for me if you want :-)

oh no wombie, i wasn't making fun. it's one of my favorite beatles songs. i was kinda in a 'dear prudence' mood last night, a little bluesy, a little hopeful, and i just wanted to share it with you. sorry if it came out wrong.
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....

quietone:  Hey--I liked that!  Those good ol' boys are having themselves some fun.  Wish I was there. I liked the banjo player....got tickled when he sang the lines "What'll I do?" in that high pitched voice.

mobil:  Did your comment get cut off?  Whoops--left me in suspense there.

travelr712:  I knew you weren't making fun!  Nothing "came out wrong" at all!  But I was tired and went to get something to eat and go night night.  Thanks for the fun!

quietone:  I don't know how you guys read my comments before I am done, but I have learned to accept it as a fact of life that will remain a mystery.  Hope they are up there now--I wanted travelr to know he didn't say anything wrong.
  • quietone said on Feb 26, 2008....
hey it is up there now......must be a ghost in SC the same one that is getting into the draft modes!  LOL  I also had after the skip to my lu.....that it was going to be in my head for days.....see if this sticks.
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....
quietone:  Hope you got my last PM.  Anyway, I always have to type a few words, or even one, then hit edit.  (I just did it after the word "one")   Then I go ahead and think what I want to say.  I know others have tried to help me with this, but I am too slow to figure out all the HTML stuff....  I think you guys may see part of my comments while I am "In edit mode" but I don't understand that either.  It's like you are reading things that aren't there!

My CD player skips when something inside it is dirty.  To clean it I use the vacuum to suck all it can from inside the CD player.  But I stay outside the machine and don't stick anything in.   It's always worked for me afterward.

Sorry you fell victim to my sick sense of humor wombie, I cut it off on purpose to leave you hanging. I have no cure for a skipping CD and I make this pitiful admission knowing full well my humiliation will linger here for some time to come. haha
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....

Shameus O'Patrick:  Thanks for the tip!  Really, this piece of junk isn't worth taking out the vacuum for though...ha.  I will keep it in mind!

mobil:  You know it really did occur to me that you might have been messing with me, but I wasn't smart enough to be sure!  You silly.   Thanks for making me smile.

  • travelr712 said on Feb 26, 2008....
    welcome wombie :-)
  • crybabylu said on Feb 28, 2008....
so, is it the player, or the cds, or did I skip over to many comments here?
  • wombat said on Feb 28, 2008....
Ha....I don't know.....probably 50/50 as I know I never used to take care of my CD's!  Will have to try a few more old ones.

heartache poem...
This has bothered me since Sunday evening. I don't know if I should share this with you all or not...
The years go by so fast, let's all just make the best of it...
One of my best friends from the past spent the night last night. We go way back...
Probably the last thing you all want to hear about is me blathering on yet again about the Beatles, and how I love their music. So I won't be offended it you don't read this....
