So what do you think of the Academy Award winners?

I had a ballot ahead of the show and guessed 9 out of 24 winners.

I guessed Best Picture - No Country For Old Men

...and Best Actor - Daniel Day Lewis (There Will Be Blood)

and that Atonement would get it for cinematography and for original score.

I liked Juno so much that I wanted Ellen Page to get Best Actress and was a big bewildered (to say the least) that Tilda Swinson got it for Michael Clayton. No comparison!!!!

Gotta love that headline, double oh. I haven't been to a movie at a damned theatre since Titanic, and I was dragged to that one. Why the hell was Leonardo di Caprio picked for that role? He wasn't anywhere near low-class enough. And Kate Winslet wasn't stylish enough to be the upper-class broad she was supposed to be. In terms of grace, she was just short of a moose. Where was Kiera Knightly when we needed her???

I believe that the last film I attended was an Imax movie on space.

I would, however, like to invest in movie popcorn. It must be making a fortune for someone, from what the kids tell me.

Going to the theatre is for making out. This is why long foreign films have a niche.

Tilda Swinson did not win  Best Actress; she won for Best Supporting Actress. Best Actress went to Marion Cotillard for her performance in La Vie en Rose.

It didn't really surprise me that Daniel Day Lewis won for Best Actor.

I actually thought the whole show last night was kind of boring.

Yes, Z, award shows always bore me, which is why I can say that this is the very first time I have sat through an entire Academy Awards show - ever! I had a special interest this year. And yeah I got abbreviated up above but what I meant was that I thought (hoped) Ruby Dee would get the award for Best Supporting Actress and I was surprised TS got it -- I watched Michael Clayton the night before and was not impressed with her at all.

Yeah, Under G, where was Eddie Murphy? Where was Tom Cruise? People don't show up when their movies aren't nominated for much - or nothing.
