Ever think about how all those old "Fables" might ring true for you in one way or another?

I guess tonight I am "reading" Jack In The Beanstalk.

Afterall, I was a few minutes ago comparing myself to the breather on a car--one that has choked out.

As you may or may not know (or care) that I quit my job a few weeks back--and I had all these plans for writing and other creative things I was determined to accomplish.

I will be kind to myself and say that, yes I did work on a few projects.  I even laid out the groundwork to help me finish a certain book that I want to see with a last page.

I took my "breather."

But I fell way short of my goals.  (Not that it hasn't been nice being a somewhat lazy cow at home)

I wandered off and sold my intentions for a few beans--and now I am too scared to go home.

So I guess I will have to climb that tree and look for the giant who has the golden goose.

I have to keep struggling on the path I chose, ignore the wasted effort, and see if I can bring home something worth more than I set out to find.

Time is short, and that giant is scary---but I have to keep climbing and not go home empty handed.

Maybe it's just the weather here.  The limbs of the tree are frozen, but I can't let that stop me.  I'm out on a limb of life and taking the risk seems like worth the trip.

When I get back next time, I hope I will be the goose that laid the golden egg.

Wish me luck anyway.....

I can't believe how I sailed through that going back, finding the photo, saving it to my pictures, putting it on flickr and uploading it to copy for here---I have learned so much for all of you guys!

Thanks PAPER for saying you believe in me!  And thanks secretlife for the patience!

You probably have your breather choked up from all the dust you're stirring up wombie.

If you want to write, you need to dream and if you need to dream, you just gotta slow down. Dreaming comes natural wombie, appears to me you're cooking your own goose !!!
  • wombat said on Feb 25, 2008....
mobil:  You couldn't be more right.....  I need to rethink my dreams. .  I am not choking in dust, though--I think it is fat of the land......
  • wombat said on Feb 25, 2008....
While I am here--IS there a way to delete the photo that didn't work?  I saw it when I did my post, but then it didn't show up, so I knew I had to come back and re-post the silly picture.  But I can't get rid of the blank box with the tiny square.  If there is a way, let me know, or do it yourself....ha...
  • travelr712 said on Feb 25, 2008....
wombie, if you wanna delete that picture that doesn't show up, go back to edit the post, put your cursor at the end of the last dot in the last sentance and press the delete key till it goes away.
  • wombat said on Feb 25, 2008....
    travelr712:  I am trying---doesn't work--probably cause I do this............ha.. But thanks!
  • travelr712 said on Feb 25, 2008....
did you try going into the 'edit html' tab and removing it there?

Awe...Wombie!  {{{{HUGS}}}} The winter blues suck.  It's obviously the same here.  We're (where I'm at) are getting snow tomorrow, but it's supposed to go to rain.

SPRING IS COMING!  I PROMISE!  This song might make you feel a little better.  It's awesome that the words are misleading, but still very cheery.  I love this song, but it isn't the singers video.  Hope it cheers you up!

Well...he says "imagination is my friend" and that you'll "appear in technicolor the next day" and I thought that would make you smile!  The imagination might give you inspiration!

you gave up a good job that was bringing in money? To write the next great American novel?

Go get your job back. When you've got a best seller, then you can quit your job. Not everyone who gets publish rakes in the cash.

  • quietone said on Feb 26, 2008....

    hope you like this.....

  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....

seawitch:  It wasn't much of a job--and I don't want to write the great American novel.  I just want to write something worthwhile.  Thanks for stopping by.

quietone:  I did like that.  So many inspiring thoughts.  I will have to watch again.  I really got the one about it taking as much work to be miserable as it does to be happy.... I need to keep that one in mind all the times.  Thanks, friend.

  • quietone said on Feb 26, 2008....
wombie ~ you know you just said a mouthful to seawitch - "I just want to write something worthwhile"  How do you know you haven't already done that.  Even if it sounds dumb to you...it may be exactly what someone else needs or wants to hear.  write and put it out there...you never know!!  :)
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....
quietone:  So you are here on my tail....ha.  I think I need to think "shorter."  Maybe I could finish things...ha.  A weird thing happened this morning.  The phone woke us up and I let the answering machine get it.  It was a publishing company that I had ordered some info from last year!  Hubby  asked who called and I said, "Nobody--a garbage phone call."  He got up later and deleted it.
  • merlin said on Feb 26, 2008....
    Good luck
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....
merlin:  Thank you, but I think what I need is a magic wand to re-make my life.  I broke mine beating off the blues.....ha.....  I think I am just scared and lazy....but a dreamer nontheless.
  • kruuyai said on Feb 26, 2008....
Ooooh, lots of luck, wombat!  I know what it's like to quit your job and think you're going to have all this time to finally finish that novel.  Ha!  I quit my job six years ago, and I'm still only 150 pages into the rough draft.  Haven't even looked at it in over three years.  But you know what?  It's never too late, and time spent enjoying life is never wasted.
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....

kruuyai:   I mostly quit my job because of my fear of driving in bad weather. I am a transplanted southerner up here in the northeast--and this winter stuff is doing me in.  I thought I would spend the time doing something worthwhile, but so far have only written a little--except for here.  Do my blogs count as writing?  Ha.

I don't feel so alone seeing that someone else has "work in progress," and you are right. It is never too late, I guess.  Seriously, I think I am just warped.  But thanks for the comments and the encouragment.

    Wishing you luck.

Jack and the beanstalk takes me back. My father sat in bed and had just finished the book he was reading. He said Now I don't have anything to read. A thin little voice of a 2 year old boy who sat beside my father and was "reading" Jack and the beanstalk, said  "you can have mine" . We all roared with laughter he was so funny. Well this was my cousin who lived in the same house as we then and the other day my little cousin became 50. How the time flies.

wombie, i believe in you too, and I loved how you worded that :-) xx
  • wombat said on Feb 26, 2008....

skald:  Thank you.  That was a nice story you shared there...I got tickled.  Yes, time flies.  I sometimes think of people I haven't seen in years.  I "see" them in my mind as they were then, and wonder how they look now.

destinydiva:  Oh, thank you....I appreciate the compliment so much!  But like I said--just stuff from a warped mind....ha....

  • kruuyai said on Feb 26, 2008....
wombat:  That's so funny.  My novel starts out with a terrifying winter driving scene in conditions that most drivers would find a piece of cake... so obviously, I know how you feel.  And yes, your blogging counts as writing.  What it's done for me is to get me in the habit of getting words on the screen.  I don't get so hung up on how things are worded.  After all, it's only a rough draft, and you're going to go over it a million times (the novel, not the blog).  You'll hit your stride.
  • wombat said on Feb 27, 2008....
kruuyai:  Glad someone out there understands my fear of driving in winter!  I am one of those people that just don't need to be out there!  As for the writing- well.  I am disappointed in myself for not trying harder.  Maybe someday....Good luck to you, though!
  • skald said on Feb 29, 2008....
The strange thing is Wombat they age with us and when we see them they look like they  use to.  O almost that . Sometimes we are surprised at how old they look. We remember the little girl and she a fat woman but not for long. lol
