I've been knitting Sara's jumper for hours. It is just like Freyja´s I had to join yarn together on the sleeve. I went on knitting. Went into the kitchen and came back. Then I noticed that what I had knitted from the newly  joined wool was not the same color. I unraveled it and took  another skein of yarn and what happens. There is still a considerable difference in the colors. It was the sleeve that I had been knitting all day that had the wrong color. I cold not reach the yarn in the shop so I asked an assistance to help me. She handed me the yarn. I say and I will always check the numbers after that. Though I'd just rest and start later so I wrote this. I don't know if you can see the difference on the picture.

    Oh no!  oh skald!  How frustrating -- all that work!  I hope the yarn shop will take back the unused skeins of the wrong color.  {{{hugs}}}

oh you must have patience beyond compare! That would send me right over the edge of reason!! Good luck with it and your pictures are fabulous as always!! thanks so much, mamie

I agree with mamie ~ I would have given up and rolled it all into a ball and said.....there a new toy for the cats!  No, I cannot see the difference in color in the picture.  Freyjas jumper fits her well, and looks very nice on her.  Good job skald.

I can see the difference Skald, the sleeve looks to have a tiny bit of a yellow tinge to it, less white then the other bigger part.

Cute little girl in the hat  haha, you must have a great disposition to go on with it like you are doing.

    It came out beautiful.
My Mom knits and chochets and she often complains about the same thing,
something about differnet dye lots.  Even though the numbers match, if it came from a different dye lot, the colors may not match exactly.

Mamie When I was younger I was very impatient. This would have made me quite crazy but thanks to the goodness or what ever, I have learned from my life. Now, I did not have much time at the computer as my son came and borrowed it from me. but in the meantime I started and I have finished one sleeve. Thanks Mamie
Quiet.  I did not either notice the differnce until I had joined the other yarn to it and it was much lighter. Well, a ball for the cat serves a good purpose.lol  Yes,. I must say I am proud of Freyja's jumper and finally yesterday Þór wore his.
Mobil.  Yes, my granddaughter is a cute little girl, thanks. You are right about the colors and when you add the other one to the sleeve one sees it very well. Thanks.
Pickers.  That is also true and can be so frustrating, your mum is right. Thanks.

How frustrating!  I think I might have cried or screamed if I had managed to knit so much and find out that it needed to be redone.  You do such beautiful work.

Uniquely.  I think that I would have done some years ago too. Cried and screamed. Thanks :-)

Dear Skald, you did this one your special Woman's Day?  I would have thought the family members should have taken you out for a treat?!!!?  I am so sorry to hear about the waste of your time on that sleeve :( I would have just cried.  I have done something similar whilst sowing once. . .sowed a wrong side and a right side together and then sat having to unpick the entire thing!!  Bwwaahhhhh :(

I hope you had a lovely Woman's Day anyway :-) And Freya looks gorgeous :-)

    Love Polar

Polar.  Such a thing like thing like sowing the wrong side on that is something that could so well happen to me, because I never could sow.lol The Icelandic woman's day was forgotten here, lol  Pálmi phoned his sister Olla and I heard him say congratulations on your day. So I said to him, you congratulate your sister and not me., Ha? he said. It is the women's day. Oh is it. I was congratulating her because  her village team won a championship. Olla is a follower of the basketball team of her village. He said you don't congratulate me either on the men's day , oh no it is mostly on my birthday I said and that was that, we laughed.
Polar thanks for your wonderful sms today, you are a good friend.

my sister, who also knitted when she had more time, had this philosophy: "if the mistake is a just a slight difference in color, and undoing it will take up too much time, i will continue it anyway until the knitwear is finished. then i'll do another one and not repeat the same mistake."

in any case, you show yourself to be a patient and perfectionist craftswoman. :-)

I want to apologize for the typo's. I meant to type "You are one special person."

    And a space after picture.

Moon  Yes your sister was right if it is only a slight difference no one will notice. But this was too much of a difference and the other grandmother of Sara, where Sara is being brought us, is a very good knitter and she sows well too. I would never let her see such a thing. lol
Soleme.  Thnaks so much for your comments. :-)

I was going to order myself a knitting kit for beginners...it's for 8 year olds, lol!
  • skald said on Feb 25, 2008....
Daily. That is wonderful. Does not matter for how old it is. Once we start with what ever we do, we start easy. I once did the same I  bought cross stitch kit for children and I started. I was 30. I had done some when I was little and it is very clumsy. I have a thing that I made for my granny when I was 12 with big stitches. Well then I bought this and i started, soon I was doing complicated things and other stitches too, counting out and so on. Let me know how it goes will you (((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))
