Abbr. log.

1.                 The study of the principles of reasoning, especially of the structure of propositions as distinguished from their content and of method and validity in deductive reasoning.

I need to take a look at the logic used to defend angry white men.  Lets say I beat someone within an inch of their life with a stick, and leave them lying in pool of their own blood.  10 years later they see me sitting in a restaurant, with the stick, enjoying a meal.  They leave and come back with the police, and demand justice.   My response, “What’s the big deal?  It was ten years ago, why bring it up now? Why are we rehashing the past?

This is an over simplified version, but what I’m trying to get across to angry white people is the reason we need to talk about the past, and reconcile that past.  You can’t just say that my parents came from Poland in 1960, and had nothing to do with slavery.  Why? Because the color of their skin gave them an advantage, and assuming you’re not adopted so does yours.

My father served his country during the Korean War.  He was in the Navy, and put up with the hatred of white people who were supposed to be his mates, they didn’t own slaves either, but their attitude was one of superiority, and distain because my father’s skin tone was different.  Some teased him because they thought he was Native American, and some because they new he was a Black man.

He told me he got respect from few of his shipmates, and those that didn’t respect him… well; he did what he had to do.  My father was an electronics mate he operated the radio.  He served 4 years and was honorably discharged.  He went to college got his bachelor’s degree (with valedictory honors in 1955) from Lincoln University Oxford Pa. another bastion of social acceptance, and cultural awareness in the 50s.  Then went to Temple, and got his masters.  Started teaching at Southern University then at Maryland State University where he decided that he needed to get a PhD in Colonial American History.  He wrote his thesis on The Peace Treaty of 1789.  You know why? Because his advisor told him he could not write about anything involving Black people in the history of this country; his country, the country of his ancestors, my ancestors Black and Native peoples.

Now that is the short history of one black man, my father.  He worked hard, put himself through school on scholarships, he was one of the smartest people I ever knew, and he accomplished all of that while white people, angry white people were trying to hold him back. Telling him that he was not welcome in his own country.

So, I have to ask, what is it that white people are angry about? The fact that they had it so good for so long and now the playing field is being leveled? That people no longer pick them first because of the color of their skin?  Is it that the same rights and privileges now apply to everyone and not just them, WHAT?   Now, if anybody in this country had the right to be angry it’s Black people, but we’re not we’re frustrated.  Frustrated by people who say it’s not their fault, and they don’t see what the big deal is, and why do we have to rehash the past, and why should we level the playing field.  The playing field needs to be leveled so that no other group of people who come here are treated in the same manner as my father was; like people are treating Mexicans now.

Do any of you know why Rome fell?  Most people think it was because Goths, Huns and Vandals were attacking the borders.  This is true, but not to destroy Rome, they wanted to be Roman, and Rome destroyed itself trying to keep them out.  Think about that the next time you call a Mexican Illegal immigrant.  Peace and Long Life

It always seems to boil down to the color of skin vs social viability.

Sucks, but true.  Except for an Irishman in the late 1800's , as far back as our family can be traced, I am Mohawk Indian, along with Seneca and somehow we have apache very early on 1740's from a female taken back east and later came to live with our people in upstate New York.

Now many here will speak as if race doesn't matter to them, when it comes to people, all they see is people.  I am sorry if I am not colorblind, color has been pointed out to me often in life ( I once dated a boy, never even kissed him, but we did movies and school together 13) for two months we were an issue in school...oouuuu.  One day I went home with him to meet his parents, man did my happiness fade quick as I hear his father say  " you brought a fucking Indian in our home ?"  Ended a good friendship, they were white.  But I learned what being a color was for real, then.  It was when I knew I was not color blind, for you see, I was a color.

At least blacks had a use even as slaves, with Indians, the only good one, was a dead one.  The world isn't color blind, and neither am I.  But I am not prejudice simply because I refuse to blind myself to the fact that there are green bananas to, not all are yellow, but nonetheless, bananas.

All people are people but not all people are like other people except in that they are individual people.  Once that occurs in a person's life and they acknowledge their own, and others right to, individuality, then race is a factor, but not perchance as an issue of color, but otherwise and meaningful as such, as a preference of individual choice.  Hate is not spelled individually.  Hate never grows upon itself and needs many others to mutate itself into a greater hate, mass hate.  Needless to say Hate, and Individuality are not compatible, such is the power of one, individual.  Yet color plays a part, as you will see herein below.

I blame no others for whatever I may do wrong in life, I take individual responsibility for my own actions and inactions alike.  That too, means whether I wish to break the law or not, is a conscious thought, an individual decision, whether each are appreciated in neither or a greater degree than the other, for the sake of this discussion, is of no circumstance. But race and color is.

Believe me I know, its just my brain because all the above came as a result of just the following few words.....

Think about that the next time you call a Mexican Illegal immigrant.

Call a Mexican Illegal immigrant what ?

An  [ illegal ] immigrant ?  Key word :  Illegal

Sorry...perhaps after they (illegal immigrants) become citizens "legally" and they want to fudge the law a little speeding, blowing a stop sign, smoking weed, small shit..fine, by all means.  But to jump off as not only as a non-citizen, but in addition an illegal resident as well, then I say....go home, do not pass goal.  If you had/have children here, feel free to take your children as I would mine if leaving any country, it would be as a unit.  I would later explain why I had to take them from their birth country, but that in any event the birth country was not reflective of their Native country, so much is life. Live with it, but obey the laws here as we would be expected to there as illegal immigrants as well.

And, as to color and race, I am afraid that I would find few Mexicans searching all Asians or Scott's, so my eyes and mind would naturally seek  otherwise, without prejudice but with individual thoughts of finding illegal Mexicans one would be put to task to justify looking in Scotland , Japan or China, etc...

Not everything is decidedly prejudice, except when individuals forget they were once just another individual and, that theres nothing wrong with not being color blind.  But unjustifiable when blinded by color, alone.

Just my opinion, but if your locking away Americans for breaking the Law, why not a Mexican openly breaking our Laws ?

    Hottips4u,

"Except for an Irishman in the late 1800's"  I will respond to the resst of your post later, but I will say, "Bravo."   The Irish in the 1800 in this country were not even considered white.  I'll bet there are even a few "Angry White People" of Irish decent who don't know that.  I'll tell you something I do know, and that is Mexicans are Native American.  Remeber what this country didn't buy from mexico it just took, but I will take more about all of this later.  Peace and Long Life

    Your example was FLAWED.

You stated if YOU had beaten the  person with a stick...   Then - 10 yrs. later YOU were sitting in a restaurant with the same stick minding your business...   Then - the person you had beat recognized YOU, and the stick, then went to the cops and DEMANDED justice.

The FLAW in your example is YOU.   It was not your daddy, not your grand daddy, or his grand daddy or anyone  associate with them...  It was YOU that had beaten the person.

So the person YOU beat was correct correct in believing they were entitled to justice.

HOWEVER...   Now there is a law - It's a Statute of Limitations.   That law provides that there is time limit a person that  commit's a crime can be charged for committing that crime.  After that time limit has expired the person cannot be held accountable in law.    Since it was 10 yrs. after the time YOU beat the person that you were recognized your victims demands could not be honored.

The facts of the matter is most felony crimes have a statute of limitations of 7 yrs.  It's the LAW.

But I'm going to be charitable here, which should appeal to you being something your wanting and expect, and say  this as nicely as is politically correct...   YOUR FULL OF SHIT.

The way negros were treated I am not sorry for.  I have no compassion concerning it.

It happened long before I was born and ended before I or my grand parents were born.

At the time it was happening there was no law against it.

I honestly believe that most negros that realized the rules (Laws) at that time, and acted accordingly were treated well considering their place in society - at that time.

Those that were ass holes, broke the rules, and wanted more than they were entitled to by law, were  punished.  Some killed.

Concerning the negro women being raped:  During that time, negro slaves were  considered by law to each be an animal and could be treated as such.   Thus, even though bestiality was considered by most to be repugnant it was not against any law of the land.  Biblically yes but not the governmental laws governing the citizens of the land.

With those facts understood,  it's obvious that if a farmer wanted to fuck one his animals he could...  If he could get it to hold still long enough.   And that same farmer could let his buddies have a go at the animal as often and for as long he cared to.

Concerning the ancestors of the slaves in this country being owed something...  I honestly believe they have their freedom, the same as everyone in this country.  They have every right available to anyone, and now considered by law to be equal, in every way to people...  Of all races and with that eligible to receive all benefits this country offers.    Including welfare, free housing, medical to pay for their illegitimate younguns,  the right to go on TV shows like Maury Povich's  looking for their babies daddy/s, to name a few of those taking advantage of more than people do...  Of all races.

John Wayne, I have always looked up as true American, Human, being of good good character in all he did.   He stated he had nothing against negros, in fact every one should have one.   He didn't say owned he said have.   I agree with JW.

Concerning the way you say your father was treated while serving in the Navy:  So What...   Was it my fault?  Why should I care.   He had rights under the law both military and cival he could have remedied  any unlawful injustice he was treated to, with.

I DO NOT believe the blacks will ever gain the respect and treatment they want.  The reason being what is right and just for them, is being treated better than people are...  Of all races - Not blacks.

There are especially three things in our history that I am ashamed of. 1)  What was done to the Native Americans   2)  What was done to African Americans in slavery   3)  What was done to the Japanese in our country during World War !!

There are many many more, too numerous to name.  But these stick in my gut!  At the risk of bringing all kinds of nasty hostile thoughts down on my head.  Tell me when didn't the "white man" go throughout the world and pileage and conquer?  Go study your history of the world.  The atrocities are atrocious!

And we are still doing it.  I know I did a tribute to soldiers, and no I am not flipflopping here.  Some wars have to be fought.  but there are so many others that do not!

I was discriminated against growing up for being poor.  If you are poor, you are treated like a nothing at times.  They might as well as put there fingers to their nose and pinched it like I had a bad smell or something.  I believe some actually did that.

One more thing before i go, and this makes me cry everytime I think of it.  My Dad is Blackfoot, and I realize that was a fairly agressive tribe in its day.  But every job he ever had, they referred to him as "Chief".  I thought that was a compliment till he explained it was not!  It was to remind him that he was "the Indian".  He always got passed over for promotion.  Whenever there was any "shit" detail, he got to do it.

One time I asked him;  "Dad, why didn't you ever register your ancestry with the Native American Assoc.  and apply for benefits?"   He said, and this is when I cry...."All my life I was taught to be ashamed I was Indian.  It was something not to be proud of, it was something you never mentioned...etc."

This is what I say;;;;;"HOw dare anyone make my dad feel that way!  Everyone has the right to feel proud to be who they are!  How dare they!  He was good enough to go fight in the war!   He worked three jobs to feed and clothe his children, and to send us through school, and three of us to college. "

He took in  families who houses had either burned down, or didn't have food to eat, he took people to the doctor and paid for their visit and their medicine just because they needed it.  "How dare anyone say that my Dad isn't good enough just because his skin is red....How dare they?"

    Shameus,

I am aware that the example is flawed.  I knew that when I wrote it.  I am aware of a thing called the statute of limitations, but you have focused on the wrong thing, which is your right.  Reading your post reminds me of something my father used to say, “Son, there are none so blind as those who will not see.”  In typical fashion you, and people like you, try to defend the indefensible.  Also in typical fashion you’re bad at that defense.  I can say this to you without fear of contradiction from anyone who knows anything about history, or ethical behavior.  YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE TAKLING ABOUT.  Peace and Long Life

    Crybabylu,

I do study history at great length.  I am aware of its lessons regarding war, violence, and outright viciousness.  I agree with you that some wars have to be fought.  It would be foolish to let someone intent on doing you harm succeed at it.  I feel, though, that my point is being missed.  I’m talking about peaceful resolution of conflicts.  I’m saying that the time to shot first and ask questions later has had its day.  The war in Iraq bears witness to that fact.

You know, I could go on with this, but I see that it brings out the worst in some people.  My thinking was that if I could start a dialog on the subject maybe we could start to reconcile.  My sole purpose in writing this blog was to do that.  I thought that if I could illustrate the absurdity of the post “Angry White Man” people might want to talk, not name call, and post vulgar comments.

I would like to discuss this some more with you and Hottips4u.  I tell people this all the time, “We don’t have to agree on everything to respect one another.” One more word to the wise: time does not wash away the sins, or unethical behaviors of the past. Although, in my post I was talking about the sins committed here in this country, the word to the wise is global.  Peace and Long Life

    Worf,

Nice move posting my comment on this diatribe of yours in the comment part of one of my stories.  It was a chickens shit move on your part, but...  I liked it.

I liked it because it shows your lack of understanding in the way things work by posting it, "intentionally" in the wrong place in an effort to brand me as being prejudice, when in fact it shows your stupidity.   NOT ignorance.

(In case your not familiar with the difference between the meanings Of stupid and ignorant let me assist you:  Stupid means you have been shown how to do something properly but are unable to retain teaching so you keep fucking it up.   Ignorance means you haven't been given instruction on how to do something so you don't know how it's done but could if you were shown how.]

That's why  I'm going to leave your misplaced comment on my story...  And, because it should draw those that view my stuff, to read yours...  At least this one -  where your crying about things gone by.   Asking to be treated better than people that didn't have any part in your or their ancestors doings.

    Historical FACT:
Blacks have been given preferential treatment since the 60's over people.   The busing of kids to other schools with non black teachers was one that comes to mind...   And failed to achieve it's goal of raising the intelligence of  the  black  kids.    I wonder why that was?

Another is the need to hire a given percentage of blacks on any job done by a company getting any  Federal or States funds.   That one is still in effect.

Let's not forget the colleges that had to enroll black student's that were not qualified  to attend their schools because of the black student's academic ability...   After the black students applying to their school of higher learning had been bussed to elementary and high schools with majority non black instructors.     [We LOST several medical "qualified" student's because of that preferential treatment of blacks.]

Speaking of industries receiving Federal Funds being required to give preferential treatment to blacks...   The U.S. Navy is funded completely with Federal Funds.  And the U.S. Navy is required to maintain a certain % of black offices at every rank,  be it enlisted or Officer  personal.   And the Navy does have to promote a black over a person more qualified or equal to a blacks qualifications to keep the required %.

I'm not saying that's the reason your in the Navy, at the officer level you are Worf...  But it is a fact and it is historical.

You believe what I stated is not true and factual,  You shouldn't be opposed to publishing your service #, or at the least your Initials as they are on  your papers of commission.   Let me see what your commanding office has to say about your actions concerning race.

Live Long and...  I don't really care if you prosper, because I know your going to work the system, as you have been to get everything you can and more than you deserve.

on a matter of history though, i don't think the vandals, goths, etc. sacked rome b/c they wanted to be roman citizens: i always figured they sacked rome b/c that's where the money was, as willie sutton famously observed.

Apparently I have inadvertently opened Pandora’s box.  WE could go on for days talking about all the atrocious atrocities visited upon all the peoples of the world.  White on white, black on black, white on black, black on white, and so forth.  Now I’m not discounting anything that anyone has to say on those topics.  What I was talking about was black and white here in America, and what we should do to reconcile the situation, Let me write that again, to reconcile the situation, here in America.  Crybabylu you brought up some great points about history that I do not dispute.  People tried to make my father feel as though he was somehow less than a person too.  So I can relate to how you feel about your dad.  Peace and Long Life

Thank you for re-addressing your position.  I know for a fact that the prejudism between white and black is still alive and well.

I personally, have been very sympathetic towards the black culture.  I think there is still much descrimination in fact towards the black race. When it comes to housing, jobs etc.  I, for one, was very much in favor of "affirmative action" because without it, I don't think they do get hired, etc.

Now, I think there needs to be more education, much like what is happening with the gays and transgenders.  We need to educate, educate, educate, in our schools and in our jobs, and in our homes.

I hold absolutely no sympathy for a people already wallowing in it.

Why should I add to the flood of sympathy they already are awash in ?

Considering they hold no exclusive rights above any other race of people, why should I feel any indifference whatsoever with regards to sympathy simply because they are black?????.

Thats just dumb. and.....Just my opinion.
