I know you all are pretty burnt out on all the wedding chatter from me, but I do need some help with suggestions.

I would like to give my son and daughter a small gift from Bill and I on our wedding day.  They are and will continue to be a huge part of my life.  I don't want them to think they are losing a mom, but gaining a Bill.

My first thoughts are a heart pendant necklace for my daughter and a fine pen for my son.  Both engraved with something like "I will always love you" or something along those lines.

Please give me some feedback and input on this.

when my mom married my step dad they gave my brother and me rings, just like they were exchanging. Almost 40 years later I still have mine, it is my birthstone. Good luck! mamie

tizzy - good link!  I think I may have to go someplace like this in person in order to have the item ready in time.

Mamie - birthstone rings.  Not a bad idea.

I don't know if they have a store near you, they might, there is a zipcode search.  I do know that if you do use them in person they can have the engraving done the same day.  I christmas shopped there, so even when they were super busy they had it done either the same day or next day.

tizzy - I could certainly pick out the items one day and pick up the next.  I'm about 5 minutes away from a big mall.

awe yes, Things Remembered is a good little shop.. you should be able to find something there and have it engraved.  Happy shopping!  :)

Tizzy had a great suggestion!  I like Mamie's too!

One of my friends got a silver box from her mother and step-dad that said some little poem engraved in it about having four parents to love was better than two.  Her Dad was remarried also.  All parties got along.  I was in fourth grade when that happened and she wasn't thrilled about her mom getting married too, but was bragging that she had 4 parents when most had two.  I wish I could remember the poem.

daily - Their dad isn't remarried (or likely to be in the near future) but I like the idea.

I like the pendent idea for the girl with a picture of the two of you and an ingrave of I'll always love you. Or maybe a best friend pendent you know the ones that break in 1/2 and each of you wears one. You could have the backs of theirs engraved with yours and bills initials and add some verbal sentimental words of how much you love them,Bill is now apart of that love that's why his initals are also on the back and that they are your best friends as well as your children and end it with the always love you bit. Or you could buy rings similar to yours and Bills and say we are all marrying eachother b/c we are all family and these rings symbolize the sharing of that bond and in the ring have all of your initials carved into each one for your son and daughter. Yours,Bills, son, and daughter all around the ring.

Not original I know but that's all I have Unique. Let me know what you decide on.

HH - all very thought provoking ideas.  I once worked with a doctor who kept losing his wedding band and his wife was a metal worker.  She made him this one band that literally had her fingerprint embossed onto it.  I wish I was still in contract with her.

i really like mamie's idea too, u-i, although perhaps a necklace for your daughter might also work?

so what are you getting bill--if that's something you wanna mention? and does bill know he's supposed to get you something?

SW - I ended up getting my kids something at Things Remembered that I will pick up today.  I'm going to get a picture of them and blog it.  I am getting Bill the Love Spoon that I commissioned.  It's been sent, but I'm a little nervous that it won't get here in time.  Bill is pretty clueless about the concept of getting me something.  I think he's under the impression that he's good for gifts for awhile since he bought the engagement ring and it's pretty expensive. *sigh* Looks like I've got my work cut out for me training him. :)

i'll be honest: i didn't know i was supposed to do that, either!

hey, keep us posted re: the love spoon!
