What a difference one day makes!

Today, about 1/2 hour before lunch I got a call from an admin who asked for some help.  I was already drowning in work, but she's in a position that I cannot turn her down.  So, we walked into the work room where she said the project was...........

....... and the room was full of the ladies I work with and all kinds of pink fluffy things!!!!

These lovely people threw me a bridal party.  I wore a pink tiara with Bride and boa feathers on it and sat at the head of the board room table.  They had a healthy lunch ordered because they knew I was watching my weight.  I got a very pretty card with well wishes and a few $$ to help out.  Each of the guests filled out a little pink card with "bridal advice" which ranged from tried and true to "where did that come from?!"

I was very surprised and a little overwhelmed.  I've tried to keep my wedding planning low key at work.  It was very touching to me that the people I work with think well enough of me to go to the effort to have a nice luncheon party.

I also found someone to officiate the ceremony there.  I didn't know it, but one of the admin's has a daughter who is licensed to do weddings and she is available to do ours.

Problem solved. :)

ET - We did have someone lined up, but they dropped out at the last minute.  But, I firmly believe everything happens for a reason.

It's all coming together, isn't it? You'll see. Everything will work out fine. Any small hitches that occur on the big day should not be fretted over. I wish you a happy one.

daily - yeah, I already support about 8 people here so when she said something about more work I almost cried.  But!!!  It all turned out well.

hotaka - I really do believe that things work out the way they were meant to for the most part.  I'm determined to not sweat the small stuff.

polar - yes, I think it's time to relax and let the event unroll. :)

    hidufel - indeed it was!

skald - After I got over the shock of the surprise I was smiling too.  My coworkers are the best.

wombat - It really does touch me that they did this for me.  The admin with the daughter who will do the ceremony piped right up when she heard that I was still looking for an officiant.

queen - it was.  I was "queen" for an hour ;)

minnie - I'm usually on the other side of these kind of events, helping plan retirement, birthday and other events here.  It was nice to be on the receiving side.

MM&I -  yes, I'm feeling better about things.  This was just the reminder I needed.
  • quietone said on Feb 22, 2008....

Wow a Tiara. You were the Belle of the ball Unique. And God moves in mysterious ways as you found someone to officiate your ceremony. Congrats and I'm looking forward to pictures of the reception.
  • uniquely-ironic said on Feb 22, 2008....
HH - yes, I'm not often persuaded to wear either pink or a tiara, but they got me to wear both at the same time :)
  • silverwhisper said on Feb 24, 2008....

SW - I have "luck" like that.  It was very awesome to be surprised like that.  As for everything working out, I'm noticing that the more I work at relaxing and letting things happen, the more often they do :)

Im gonna have a mental breakdown any second, I just know it. There is so much to do in so little time. Im running low on hope. Reaching the goal seems like a pipedream. The nose bleeds are ruining all of my cute clothes....
I dont think knowing someone for a really long time should be any kind of deciding factor of weather you like them or not or are going to be friends with them.
I think Phil grandfathered in most of his friends, not because they were nice, or good ...
