In her own words, Michelle Obama stated that "This is the first time in my life, I'm proud of my country". So, as her husband uses the words of others without giving them credit in order to make himself sound great, his wife slips and shows her true colors and feelings about America. I guess that means that Americans who fought and died to protect our freedom and way of life, Abraham Lincoln who freed the slaves, Affirmative Action that gives blacks jobs over whites even when not the most qualified, and all the efforts by the government to advance minorities in this country is worthless to her.

When are people going to wake up and see that this man has his own agenda and talks a whole lot of misleading talk about nothing.

She wasn't alive when Lincoln freed the sslaves you bloody idiot.  Affirmative Action is nothing to be proud of.  You've actually made her case I thoughs she was an idiot until you made this post.  Now I guess she's right.  Thanks for opening my eyes.
  • Ariene said on Feb 20, 2008....
I'm sorry, SeanRenaud, I can't value the opinion of someone who can't even spell correctly. In addition, I've always been proud of this country and "yes" even the brave men and women who came before me. I guess people like you are the reason Obama has won so many states....but, will NEVER be president.
  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 20, 2008....
No, it's people like you that are going to make his case and put him in the President seat despite the fact that he doesn't deserve it and isn't qualified for the job.  But people are seeing people like you for the racist bigots that you are and would rather put a black man in office just to put you in your place.

Like I said it was a stupid thing for her to say.  There are plenty of things America has done to be proud of during her adult life.  The fall of the Berlin Wall, the out pouring of support in the wake of the Tsunami.  Several other military actions to defend the helpless, sometimes with little to gain from helping.

She made a stupid statement, but the things you listed did not occur during her life time, at some point you have to stop putting a political spin on everything.
  • mobil said on Feb 20, 2008....
I'm not seeing any bigotry in Ariene's post Sean. What she's said is true, all of it, she may not have pointed out great things that have happened in (what's her name) Michelle Obama? In her lifetime, I can't remember her name, but that's not important.

Obama's wife came off as an angry woman and she's has had the benefit of being educated at Princeton and Harvard. It doesn't appear she's suffered racially or otherwise other than to hear her talk in less than flowery terms about this country and all that she has benefited from living here. Not a smart thing to do when your man is running for President, no matter what his color.

i'm just curious, ariene: who's the right way for america, in your view? it seems like you only ever blog to complain about democrats in the past few months.

please don't tell me mike huckabee, would-be theocrat?

  • Ariene said on Feb 21, 2008....

    Thank you, Mobil.

There's no one running that I would want for President, at this time, ed. I don't like the smear campaign against McCain....I think it is dirty politics, as usual.

One of my relatives, was the Secretary of Defense under ? I was a member of The International Platform Association. My friends were involved in politics and I was also member of various women's associations and used to volunteer for worthy causes. So, I'm just concerned about the future of this country, as most of us.

Would you rather hear about my new, additional, job, my decision to start a new chapter in my life, or my consent effort to keep a low profile which never works? I guess that I'm boring, lately. That's why I can't figure out why a guy, probably 20 years younger than me, asked me out. Well, it's 4:30AM and I have to go to work.

  • silverwhisper said on Feb 21, 2008....
sadly, dirty politics has seemed kinda redundant in the past few years, so i understand some of your frustration. :>

honestly, i'd be interested in knowing some of the other stuff going on in your life that doesn't revolve around politics, but that's just me. since our views on politics are kinda different, it would be nice to find some common ground with you. :>

but hey, blog about whatever matters to you. if that's politics, cool, go right ahead.

The Osama Obama's are just typical liberal Democrats. They are millionaires trying to
pretend to be one of the people. They are just people. There is no shame in
success, but they want to claim they have a dream to be successful, but they
already are. No one is holding them back, but they want to pretend there is.
Another Democrat president full of comtempt for America. What a surprise. It is
sickening that black people fall for it just because he is partly black. When I help
elect a black president, it will be someone who recognizes how great this country
is, as Ronald Reagan did. Not someone who makes millions and then spits on the
very country that gave him that opportunity.

I think what Michelle Obama said was stupid but give her a break.  The amount of speaking these people do at this time they are bound to say something dumb.
  • ALIENated said on Feb 22, 2008....
Everyone has to learn the lesson of loose lips. Loose lips sink ships. This is
just the beginning. They are now beginning to attack McCain with stupid
reports. What a system we have developed. Lift people up and tear them
down. Osama Obama and Hillary Rotten have done well not to attack each
other, and McCain and Huckaby are platonic, but that is all about to end as
the liberal media cranks up for the kill. Watch and see.

And when will they leave Brittany alone?

OK, ed....just a little. So, I went back to work yesterday thinking that my co-worker had forgotten all about his comments the other day. I mean, he knows that I have a 19 year old daughter. But, he didn't and once again asked me out. I told him that I was too busy in my life to date. I don't think he wanted to hear that. Luckily, work separated us. He's a nice guy, but I don't want to date him. Any suggestions, aside from complaining about him? ALIENated, great comment! stopmediabias, I know they all make stupid comments at one time or another. I'm not worried about one comment. I believe they have a hidden agenda for America. I guess we all have to wait and see how it plays out, or if it was even worth worrying about in the end.

And not understanding the concept of protecting our country is also acceptable

I've always been proud of this country until they re-elected George Bush. But Michelle has said said some doseys that I haven't agreed with like the time she referred to her husband as her quote" Babbies' daddy!" during a speech. I was so insulted that she would lesson the huge commitment that she and her HUSBAND have called marriage by referring to him as "My babbie's daddy"!

This is not the ghetto,el barrio,or the hood and She's not with her homegirls on the block. She's a Harvard educated woman,Wife, Mother,Lawyer. And I wouldn't want any lawyer who spoke like that to represent me.She put people back 10yrs with that stupid commit. Remember when Hillary was a big mouth like this? And look at where she is now. Scarry isn't it?=)

    She's the Black Hillary!

  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 25, 2008....
She was connecting with a crowd.  It's funny I know now why this country is so fucked up why our politicians are career liars (both sides)  It's people like you HH.  If they loosen up in the least and stop speaking like they are absolutely perfect we hold it against them.  It's people like you that made our politicians into liars.
  • husbandhater said on Feb 25, 2008....
Kiss off Sean, they don't have to be perfect and I don't hold them to standards no higher than I'd hold anyone else. I actually like Hillary but she did have a big mouth in her time. She has said some off the cuff things. Are you denying that? It's not about loosening up. There is a difference btwn losen up and the way people carry themselves.

Since she is "suppose" to be the wife of the guy who might end up being the 1st chosen one she could at least carry herself with a certain amount of respect. My babbies' daddy sounds like she's just some hoochie he hooked up with. And letting your hair down could be done with other language and in other ways. If she started cursing while doing her speeches then what would you say then?

What if she said: Those fucking Republicans or that ole ass McCain? Articualtion has nothing to do with loosening up. It has more to do with relating to people in all nationalities in her case, not just the sista's,brothas',and the 18-20somethings. My father in law twisted his head and looked in disbelief and he's a middle aged white man who happens to be a democrat.

I'm pretty sure he wouldn't relate nor could he connect to My babbies daddy. It's also about respect of one's self and the relationships they have. Marriage is such a sore subject and has been for a couple of generations now. Why cheapen it any further with that comment? And I don't find her an embarressment so much as having what Hillary 1st had and learned to contain:Foot and mouth syndrome which is more of a young thing that you eventually learn from. So kiss my bloody Knickers sean.
  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 25, 2008....

If it was during a speech I'd probably say she was stupid.  If she's just walking around and she wants to call Barack her babie daddy by all means.  Like I said we complain about politicians being fake liars, and then we condemn them when they let up a bit.

We do the same thing on their policies.  We scream and scream that the politicans aren't doing what we want them to do and won't change their policies.  IF they do change a policy or a stance then we attack them for being flip floppers.

Least your not lbfno7.  If she had her way only the extraordinarily rich would be able to run for office.

Ariene people like you are just mad about Obama being the next black President
  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 25, 2008....
You mean the first, and anon, shut up.  you're a worthless idiot.
  • Ariene said on Feb 25, 2008....
SeanRenaud, If by some fluke, Obama was elected, whether honestly or not, as President of the USA, I don't think a lot of Americans would take it lying down. I would never even acknowledge Michelle Obama as being the First Lady. I remember her saying "My Babies' Daddy". I thought the remark was classless and I sure as hell, don't want her or her husband representing me, as an American, in the eyes of the world. You mean, anon, that I'm mad about Obama being the next president, who just happens to be black? I don't recall ever having a black president before. Honestly, I'd rather you didn't respond anonymously, but it's up to you. I don't and I wouldn't block anyone for expressing their opinion. zfrega, I remember all of it, but an accusation of rape. I'll have to check that out. Thanks for your comments. ALIENated, silverwhisper, husbandhater - as, usual, I appreciate your input.
  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 25, 2008....
If Obama gets past Hilary, which is looking more and more likely by the minute he will be president.  You are letting your prejudice stand in the way of common sense here.

I think most Americans will shrug if he wins. I don't expect riots or anything.  Smart money would just sit back and see what he does.  Right now I agree for the most part with the criticism of him.  He's a suit full of hot air.  But that doesn't mean he can't or won't wield the power properly when he gets it, it just means that we don't really know and he's not saying much.
  • stopmediabias said on Feb 25, 2008....

I think if Obama gets past Hilliary he is going to get pounded in the debates.  It's so tough to speculate now because there are factors that will change.  Economic factors, World factors, who the VP's are, and the debates.

I gotta agree with Sean here.  Everyone talks about how bad it is that we have turned into a perfectionist society (mediawise) yet when someone makes a mistake or a miscue they are hammered for it.  There are so many other legitimate things to criticize Obama about.

  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 25, 2008....
Honestly I'm not sure Obama would get railed in the debates.  I mean the Magic Negro seems to be learning as he's going.  He was getting destroyed by Hillary in their early debates, but now he's holding his own even winning sometimes.  Part of that might be attributed to Hillary's begining to panic but I think Barack is just magically learning this shit as he goes along.

Honestly thanks to Bush (percieved or real) fuck ups I don't think a republican can win.  Certainly not McCain with his 100 years in Iraq.  I doubt anybody in the middle is going to support Republiccans this time out.

Hell I don't think it's a coincidence that the Dems are running a black and a woman, they have to know that an actual donkey could beat a Republican at this point so why not take a chance?
