On February 20, 2008, around 8:30 pm EST, there will begin an astrological phenomenon known as a full lunar eclipse.  This will be the last visible lunar eclipse till late 2010.  (if you wish to know when you will be able to see the Eclipse just google it.

The moon will turn red at 10:31 p (EST), at the time of the full moon. It should be fascinating to watch (hopefully I will see it but they are expecting cloudy skies here on the Northeast Coast of USA)

In Pagan/Wiccan Religions, the February full moon is known as the "Quickening Moon." This a time when new life is beginning, but still lies dormant. There's a feeling of anticipation in the air, knowing that the seasons are turning again. It's a good time to start setting goals and thinking about your hopes and dreams for the future -- accept responsibility for poor choices you may have made in the past, and move on. Set your goals to focus on personal achievements and advancement.

The Eclipse in this Moon is considered to be a rare alignment of the Moon and the Sun and should be treated with much respect.  So, be careful of what you wish for tomorrow - it just may come true.

I'm not sure we'll see it in the uk, I tried googling it, but didn't find much :-)

I try never to miss an eclipse--but our weather forecast says "cloudy" for tomorrow.  I hope to get to see it!

Oh, well, if its cloudy at wombies, its cloudy where I am also.  Darn.  I saw the last one at work.. it was just before dawn as about 10 of us kept going out and watching it.. it was pretty cool, but not like this one will be.  I will be taking my nap anyway.  Drats!!

What a pity!.....I  googled and it seems we won't see it here in Australia!  I have never seen a blue moon - never mind a red one!!

Rupert - sorry I can't tell if the blue moon comment is a joke or not, so forgive me if it is and I am telling you something you already know - a blue moon is traditionally the second full moon in one month.  Usually there is only one full moon a month but the lunar calendar can keep us guessing and sometimes in 31 days there are two.

In the Wiccan Calendar some believe that it is two full moons within the same "astrological" sign.

I grew up thinking that a "blue" moon was when the moon was just sad and needed to be cheered up :)

My girls are excited about the eclipse.  I'm hoping it's not too cloudy.

Future....I always thought a blue moon was just a figure of speech!  I.E. "he only takes her out to dinner once in a blue moon" meaning rarely or maybe even never!!
So thanks for the info! ya live and learn!! :-))

LOL Rupe - that's how the figure of speech came about - it is a rare occurance - I don't even know if it happens once a year or not?

Eilan - so am I - but listening to the forecast for this evening - I may not get to see it.

Back in August, there was another Lunar eclipse.  My neighbor and I were up at 3 am to watch it but unfortunately, as it reached total eclipse, the clouds took over and we couldn't see it.  I was really looking forward to this one since I didn't have to be up at ungodly hours to see it.....Oh, well - I may have to wait until 2010
