I talk so much about how I like knitting on my circle looms that I thought I would show you one of my finished hats.  It's hot off the loom tonight.  :-)  This one will be part of a birthday gift for a little guy.  With this hat, I experimented with using two strands of yarn at a time to make the hat thicker and warmer.  It made it a bit bulky, but that's really the look I was going for.

It's nothing fancy, but I like creating things with yarn.  I plan to try some other projects soon now that I have my pattern books for the looms.  I have three more hats promised so they will come first.

Thanks for taking a peek.

CW: You know, I'm pretty creative, but I took a look at those looms at the store and some of the pattern books, and, frankly, they baffle me. So, I'm impressed with the hat. I think this is one area that my creative talent just does not extend to. LOL. I think I might be knitting illiterate!

    Daily,
Thank you.  I like how they turn out too.  :-)  If you decide to try the knitting looms and need help, give me a shout.

    Zayda,
Thank you. To be honest, when I was first learning how to do the knitting looms I was bit baffled as well.  The directions on the patterns weren't well defined.  Once I figured out how to weave the yarn and then how to make the stitch, I was hooked. :-)  They are my favorite crafty thing at the moment.

Really cute, CDub!  How long did it take you to make?
  • polarheart said on Feb 16, 2008....
I'm impressed SkinnyW! is it relatively easy to use one of those looms?  I'm not good at knitting, but think I may be able to use a loom.

These are some that I made on my circle loom.  I always  use double yarn.  I like the thickness as well.  I haven't tried anything else but hats so far!  Have fun CW

    Daily,
    Ask away!  :-)

    Mimi,
Thanks. They don't take long at all.  This one took me several days because I just did it a little bit at a time.  I've done one in an evening before.  I also make scarves on the circle loom.  They go pretty quickly too.

    polar,
I've never tried knitting with the needles, but I can do this and I really like it. Let me know it you try it.  :-)  Maybe I could start CW's Knitting Loom Club or something.  lol

    quiet,
I love your hats!  I haven't tried doing the little balls on the tops of the hats yet.  I didn't think the kids I was making them for would like them.  I'm going to have to give it a try though.  I have done fringe on scarves.  That's about as fancy as I've gotten.  :-)  This is the first time I've used regular yarn.  My past hats have been out of that fun thick funky chunky yarn you can sometimes find in the craft stores.  I really loved those.  I have a pattern for a purse on the loom that I want to try soon.  I also got the big long looms not long ago that I want to try an afghan on.  The main thing is that I am having fun.

    Thanks for sharing your creations!

CDub...Your looming projects look superb to me. You raised an old memory for me. When I was a child the winter sport in small Canadian towns was curling. People made pom-poms (the little balls you mention) and attached them to their curling rocks making them easier to identify. Everyone had a different color. They are really really easy to make. Even I can do them.

That is quite a hat trick. I have one something like that (store bought) that I
wear when it is cold and I walk my big black dog. I think it was originally my
wife's hat, but it is pretty gender neutral.

    botoni,
Thanks. I'm glad it sparked a happy memory.  I'm sure the pom pom's are doable. I just need to sit down and teach myself how to do it.

    ALIEN,
Thank you. I like making them for gifts because as you say, they keep people warm.  It somehow makes me feel kind.

    skald,
Thank you.  It is nothing as beautiful as the things you make.  :-)    I love quite's handy work too

Thank you, Mamie.  I am pretty amazed that I figured it out myself.  :-)  It's easy after I did though.  I can't wait to try a purse on the circle loom before long.  I have two more hats to do and then I will.
