Blacks & Women Dominate The Democrats With “Pop” Politics
Consider that for any political party, there are the hard core activists and then there are the armchair sympathizers, or 80% of the registered party.
I didn’t support John Edwards, I always thought he was a bit of a lightweight in the political arena. But I feel his pain, being a contender at this point in the story of America. There are plenty of qualified white guys to run for President, but the field is narrow for women and blacks.
The Obama Campaign Is All About Race
Everything about the Obama campaign is race. Without his pigmentation, Obama is just another rich white guy without much experience.
They don’t want to play the race card. They ARE the race card. Why doesn’t Obama, who is soooo very good at charming women and black voters, appeal to Latinos? It isn’t because Latinos don’t like his policies. He has none that are widely known. It’s because he’s black.
The Hillary Campaign Is All About Gender.
Everything about the Hillary campaign is gender. Without her estrogen, Hillary is just another rich white guy without much experience (she only seems experienced compared to Obama.)
They don’t want to be the “woman’s candidate,” but some women just want a woman president. Like it would be a cosmic breakthrough. Why isn’t Hillary convincing too many men to come her way? Because we sense that she really might be one of us, inside. Creepy.
If not for “pop” politics, John Edwards would be the 2008 Democrat candidate. He had plenty of high level endorsements, was the last nominee for Vice President, has a longer Senate record than Hillary or Obama (by far) and as much charisma as either of them PLUS the experience of a national campaign from 2004. He would have stood a serious chance against John McCain.
Especially suicidal would be an Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama ticket. They’ll end up with half the women, half the blacks, whatever fraction of the youth vote that can drag its collective ass out of a drug-and-booze induced stupor to remember voting day, and a portion of rebellious white men and Latinos.
When Americans step into the privacy of the voting booth and the time comes to make history, most white men and most white women, most Latinos and most people over 40, half the blacks and a good portion of very nervous democrats will easily be leaning toward the comforting stewardship of the not-so-conservative and oh-so-experienced one-time host of Saturday Night Live, John McCain.
