Blacks & Women Dominate The Democrats With “Pop” Politics

Consider that for any political party, there are the hard core activists and then there are the armchair sympathizers, or 80% of the registered party.

I didn’t support John Edwards, I always thought he was a bit of a lightweight in the political arena. But I feel his pain, being a contender at this point in the story of America. There are plenty of qualified white guys to run for President, but the field is narrow for women and blacks.

The Obama Campaign Is All About Race

Everything about the Obama campaign is race. Without his pigmentation, Obama is just another rich white guy without much experience.

They don’t want to play the race card. They ARE the race card. Why doesn’t Obama, who is soooo very good at charming women and black voters, appeal to Latinos? It isn’t because Latinos don’t like his policies. He has none that are widely known. It’s because he’s black.

The Hillary Campaign Is All About Gender.

Everything about the Hillary campaign is gender. Without her estrogen, Hillary is just another rich white guy without much experience (she only seems experienced compared to Obama.)

They don’t want to be the “woman’s candidate,” but some women just want a woman president. Like it would be a cosmic breakthrough. Why isn’t Hillary convincing too many men to come her way? Because we sense that she really might be one of us, inside. Creepy.

If not for “pop” politics, John Edwards would be the 2008 Democrat candidate. He had plenty of high level endorsements, was the last nominee for Vice President, has a longer Senate record than Hillary or Obama (by far) and as much charisma as either of them PLUS the experience of a national campaign from 2004. He would have stood a serious chance against John McCain.

Especially suicidal would be an Obama-Clinton or Clinton-Obama ticket. They’ll end up with half the women, half the blacks, whatever fraction of the youth vote that can drag its collective ass out of a drug-and-booze induced stupor to remember voting day, and a portion of rebellious white men and Latinos.

When Americans step into the privacy of the voting booth and the time comes to make history, most white men and most white women, most Latinos and most people over 40, half the blacks and a good portion of very nervous democrats will easily be leaning toward the comforting stewardship of the not-so-conservative and oh-so-experienced one-time host of Saturday Night Live, John McCain.

Damn, mOOn - you're starting to sound more right wing than ALIENated. Does that mean YOUR sense of humor is going into the dumpster as well?

I'm not a right-winger, TNP. I just don't like "pop" politics, where a bunch of people (usually aged 17-24 in any given generation) get "rocked up" over some "charisma" candidate who kills in the primaries then gets trashed on a national level.

God forbid that McCain gets in, I'd rather Harpo than that twat!

Wake up and get behind Obama. It's beyond black. The awakening is coming. Even, perhaps, your own!!!!!

I think it's a big myth that women are leaders toward peace and men are leaders toward war. That's not what I heard on the bus th eother day. The driver and passenger were in agreement that "women can't stand peace." When the rent is paid, the refrigerator is full and flowers are on the table, we still find a way to stir shit up. It's true! I can't stand peace!!!!

Oh, see, i thought you meant "pop" politics like my DAD'S politics or something - old fashioned politics, ya know - but you mean "pop" like Michael Jackson pop - poular, populist, yes these politics are best used by those stirring the young. We've got top do something! But we have to do something that we can do stoned!!! Let's carry some signs!!!!! Let's PARTY FOR POLITICS!!!! I get it..............
    what about "Pot" Politics? ;D

Your a HATER Moon. Stop hating on these particular candidates because they had enough charisma to elevate themselves into a nation platform. Hill has Bill so her short commings will be that Short and Bill will help her pick up the slack and navigate through the Bullshit. Obama will have lots of help so that he doesn't fall on his face too as Hill will get something out of the deal weither it be a vice presidency or a seat in his cabinet so that if he does 4or 8yrs she comes right behind him should she be the one to lose.

Are you turning into a evangelical RightWinger Moon? I think there's a seat in the campaign of  the other guy who swears he still has a delusional shot of beating McCain and gaining the Republican nomination. Haha
  • husbandhater said on Feb 16, 2008....
Oh and Bill was Pop but he did a lot of good for this government. We had a surplus before Evangelical Bush and his sort doomed us to brokness, sword dancing, and Hell with IRAQ! Thanks Evangelicals and BUSH=(

It's not about "hating" candidates - it's about the way candidates are made available. Remember, these primaries aren't "state" primaries, they are "state party" primaries, so it's mainly democrats who have been passing judgment on Obama and Hillary, and only republicans who have been sorting out republicans. The last time we ended up with an inexperienced Senator for President, we got The Bay of Pigs and Vietnam. Sure, we got Camelot and the Apollo program as well, all capped by an assassination. "Charisma" candidates are usually polarizing when they achieve office. McCain will beat either of them because he has the greatest crossover appeal. This is given proof by the spasms conservatives are having as they accept the inevitable. Never has a self-labelled conservative had such a hard time convincing his own that he is one of them. That's 'cause he's not! ;)

the only one with any governing experience is Huckabee.
  • husbandhater said on Feb 19, 2008....
Huckabee is a long past joke now.  What's he trying to prove? McCain is a shoe in.
  • cotteralladams3 said on Feb 19, 2008....
Obama hasn't accomplished anything.  A vote for a great orator is not a vote for a great leader.  I prefer people who haven't snorted cocaine in their lifetimes for President.
  • cotteralladams3 said on Feb 19, 2008....
It's because of large political lobbies that try to buy and sway voters that these underqualified people get into office without real vision and skill.
  • somethingunUSual said on Feb 19, 2008....
Huckabee still has a chance. Something might happen to McCain (he's pretty old). Then who's left? Or rather, right? Ha ha.

Which "ism" will win (by losing?)? Sex-ism? Rac-ism? Or Age-ism?

"Let's give the presidency to someone who no longer thinks he needs it."

There's something to be said for that.  I immediately distrust anyone who wants to be in office.  I am convinced (by observation) that the only reason people want to be "public servants" is for personal gain.  Still, it's a little unseemly for a Pulitzer Prize winner to be reduced to serving as president.

Huckabee still has a chance?  Yes, perhaps.  He's sure to take all the states that still do a booming business in revival tents.
  • stopmediabias said on Feb 21, 2008....

I think it is going to come down to VP's.  If Obama picks a moderate VP he might have a chance.  McCain could counter his age by picking someone like Romney for his VP.

The debates is another big thing.  Obama may draw big crowd and have charisma, but if he can't hold his own in a debate he doesn't have a chance.
