Government control on free trade or commodoties is crazy.  I work way to hard for my money and I will be damned if I will let a socialist government take a garnishment for healthcare for some jackass that is too lazy to work. The unemployment rate is only 5 percent, Healthcare is not a right.  If I work my ass off and pay for descent healthcare, should I not be entitled to that as a benefit of my labors?  All others can get healthcare through their employer or government  agencies in place now, that seem to be funded fine for the last 40 years.  I do not have any articles to quote or am I very articulate when it comes to politics, only my beliefs...  And I was born in the U.S.A. not the socialist states of upper America,  Do a checklist on your morals, and you will not vote Democrat this year.  And did you hear Obama? "The American dream is to work hard and retire comfortable."  Are you kidding me?!!?!?!?

Honestly you're a combination of mistaken, and disconnected from the reality of the world.   Universal Health Care in this country at this time is pretty much a must.

why? Do you need healthcare? Find some that is within your means, did you buy too big of a house?
  • SeanRenaud said on Feb 14, 2008....
No but the fact that there are people who need it remains.

What's more is that at this time America spends more tax dollars on health care than any other nation in the world.  So from a purely economic point the rest of the world has proven that some fucking way socialism works better than our system.

This is mostly because we won't turn anybody away, not only for bullet wounds and heart attacks (which I agree with) but we also don't send people away from the common cold.  This is partially because without taking the person in for observation it's hard to know if it's going to be a common cold or pnemonia and kill the person and we as a society have decided that it simply not worth the risk.

What's more is that simply problems that we could have solved early on, things that we know can become life threatening, could and would be caught early on and prevented from advancing.  Not only saving lives that would pay more money into the system in the way of taxes.  But really more importantly preventing them from rating more expensive treatments down the road.

Now if you think you can convince the rest of the country that if a man comes into a hospital with a life threatening condition that he can't afford that we should turn him away and let him die then go for it.  It will lower how much we are currently paying in health costs, and it will prevent the need for Universal Health Care.

Unfortunately I think that's gonna be a hard sell even for the most right wing.

I hate socialism, but I'm willing to admit that in some cases it's necessary.  And Heath Care is more important IMHO than universal education, which you know we already have and I don't hear a lot people complaining about.

allright.. good point.... But does my paid for healthcare provide me preference in the medical world?  I think it does. As soon as the universal healthcare becomes official (as you pointed out, its unofficial but in place now) will that not affect my status as a paying customer, will I have to take my kids to the crappy hospital in midtown?  Are we not paying for it anyway in the form of higher healthcare rates, with universal, the garnishment will also make us pay more. I see healthcare as a lose/lose/maybe do ok/ endeaveor.
Good points, I am glad I post these types of things on boards, I always learn something. And thanks for not posting some boring links to mundane figures.
