i had a beautiful childhood. schooldays were eventful, colorful, and challenging; while summer days were fun, exciting, and always looked forward to. family gatherings were always a blast, and i seem to have everything i needed. my siblings and i were all gifted with a happy childhood, and i thank God and my parents for that.

as a little boy, as any other kid, i dreamed a lot: i will have my own happy family, a successful career, drive my own car, and live in my own house. first i thought of becoming an engineer, then later a journalist or newscaster. midway through college, i decided i would go to law school. i then became a lawyer. a little over two years after passing the bar, i set up my own law firm. a decade later, my law partners and i are still together, our office has expanded, and we look forward to at least two more decades in active trial work.

suffice it to say, i am now living my childhood dream.

In his last lecture, Randy Pausch, a professor of Carnegie Mellon University, said that if we live our lives properly, the karma will take care of itself and our dreams will come to us.

i believe in this philosophy. this is perhaps why i am blessed with a good life now.

with humility, i convey this wish and message to all: pursue your dreams and live your life the right way. if you do so, everything else will fall in place.

so friends, what was your childhood dream? are you living it now?

    You know what Quid,

    I'm on my way, I have always been a dreamer, day dreaming my life away.. the one thing that I have done since I was 16yrs old is write, and I continue to today, I'm getting there, I'm working harder, I'm taking advice and getting knock backs, I'm feeling great, positive, motivated but I'm not quite there yet...

    A few more years under my belt and I dare say I can come back here with a photo of my book in a book store *-}

    But then I want to help my husbands dream too and that is to one day make a feature film, paid for, big budget (well not millions but hundreds of thousands would do it) So far we've done one art house doco (like quanisquatsi spl?) that we financed ourselves.. so yeh...

    just talking about it makes me realise definitely on the way there!

    great post

    it's really important to stay focused on what you want to achieve in life. i am glad to note that you and your husband are so dedicated in reaching your respective goals. i can only wish and pray that the wind continues to lovingly carry you both into attaining those not-so-impossible dreams. godspeed to you both! i shall eagerly await for that photo... and that book!

    Sadly...not exactly.  At least not all of it.  I have the best children in the whole entire world.  Of course I am biased...but others tell us they are really exceptional.  The writing, fame and fortune...well, they seem to be taking a little longer. : )
