i had a beautiful childhood. schooldays were eventful, colorful, and challenging; while summer days were fun, exciting, and always looked forward to. family gatherings were always a blast, and i seem to have everything i needed. my siblings and i were all gifted with a happy childhood, and i thank God and my parents for that.
as a little boy, as any other kid, i dreamed a lot: i will have my own happy family, a successful career, drive my own car, and live in my own house. first i thought of becoming an engineer, then later a journalist or newscaster. midway through college, i decided i would go to law school. i then became a lawyer. a little over two years after passing the bar, i set up my own law firm. a decade later, my law partners and i are still together, our office has expanded, and we look forward to at least two more decades in active trial work.
suffice it to say, i am now living my childhood dream.
In his last lecture, Randy Pausch, a professor of Carnegie Mellon University, said that if we live our lives properly, the karma will take care of itself and our dreams will come to us.
i believe in this philosophy. this is perhaps why i am blessed with a good life now.
with humility, i convey this wish and message to all: pursue your dreams and live your life the right way. if you do so, everything else will fall in place.
so friends, what was your childhood dream? are you living it now?
