  me, i'm a fan myself of it, but it isn't a regular course of my bedroom activities. and i think some people are into it b/c they consider it "naughty", to be honest. the men you describe, who are unhappy when they can't have it, sound like they're progressing towards the clinical definition of a fetish, which is when a person cannot achieve sexual release w/out the stimulus in question, i believe.

  I've asked many guys this question, and I normally get either one of the two following responses:
  1. It's more rare (that it happens, and that a girl will be willing to do it), so it's more exciting;
  2. It's tighter than a pussy, and so, more stimulating, exciting, etc.

  Speaking from experience the reasons why some men, myself included is some women don't aren't that enjoyable doing them in their vagina. Others get off so much better when they take it in the butt. And like one other of your commentors said, "it's tighter". Another reason is the woman can do things to a guys tool with her ass hole she can't do with her pussy... For instance squeeze it in various ways at various stages of his inserting / and back stroke.
  The darker side of why, is some men want to humiliate the woman/women they do, and doing them up the butt is their idea of humiliation. Consider how men brag to each other. It's one thing to say "I hit that..." But saying "I hit that in the ass too", usually means the woman was his, completely, to do with what he wanted too. He was her master... For whatever reason he may have for feeling that way.
  I'm sure there's more to it, "butt" those are the first reasons that came to the front of my mind.
