Found out that for the first time in my life I OWE taxes today, I've always lived by the theory that I pay a pretty penny and I utilize so little of the resources of the federal gov that why would they take more money from me. I make a meager wage, I pose no threat, I take up very little governmental stock why should I have to pay but apparently my contribution will allow more lies, more useless deaths and more pork. I'm a willing subject, I understand that I'm here to be milked like a bovine but seriously, I'm so insignificant how can my small 443 dollars be needed. If I wasn't a compassionate soul I swear I'd find a bell tower!! Thank god for my fear of heights and my grossly ingrained appreciation for life!

don't you know, governments are always milking those who can least afford it, and the high income earners are the ones that benefit!.always the way!! The rich get richer and the poor get poorer!

That's a shame, Knoockle.  Better luck next year!

Try running a small business in australia, not only do you have to pay GST and wage taxes but because I own and run it I get taxed on my gross profits too.... then I pay personal tax....

We are one of the highest taxed countries in the world....

What a bummer.... I don't make that much either but I always claim " 0 " dependents so they actually take out more each paycheck.  That way I ensure that I always get something back.
I used to do it the other way around but got tired of the last minute scramble to pay whatever they said I owed.

Yeah, I thought that I would have to pay last year because of selling some stock, but I still got money back.

From the feds, anyway. I had to pay extra state income tax (Oregon).

This year I'm getting too much back. Maybe I should have reduced my W4 deductions or something... Breaking even is the best bet.

Yeah but the legal deductions are there for just that. I didn't get very much back last year.  My folder is better organized this year and hopefully I'll get enough back to at least pay for the accountant. Last year the juvenile dependent came of legal age so that's one avenue that won't give me any deductions.

Yesterday, I discovered the IRS had placed a tax levy on my bank account and nearly wiped it out....
