So I was checking responses to my blog and to comments on others blogs before bed last night and my husband asked what I was doing. I told him I was checking my blog and he asked me what a blog was. (And he works as a computer programmer!) I had a hard time describing what it was, so I basically just told him that it was just posting things and commenting on other people's posts. So then I was telling him about the post where I talked about the conversations in my head and he told me I was nuts. :) I asked him if he never did that and he said "No. I may think 'What an idiot' when someone speeds past me, but I don't think of things to say to a cop who stops me instead." So, now I know that not everyone does it. Maybe it's just us creative types? Cause I can say without a doubt that my husband is not the creative type. Not that that's a bad thing, if we were all creative types the world would be a very strange place indeed. Anyway, if you are asked what a blog is, how do you describe it?

Well since blog is technicall a contraction of "web log", I describe it as just that--it's a log of your thoughts, feelings, experiences posted to the web. But unlike a journal, which most people do not read, a blog allows people to not only ready those thoughts, feelings, ideas, and experiences, but to respond to them as well. So, it's like an "interactive journal" of sorts.

Ah, I like that definition Zayda. I will read it to the hubby. Maybe he will understand it better, but I doubt it. :) He is an intensely personal being who doesn't understand that I can talk to anyone about anything - no matter how personal it may be!

A, Ask hubby if he's ever written a memo to his office mates on a general topic that they might have an interest in. He will say yes. Then ask him if he got replies to his email and then answered those replies? He will say yes. Tell him he is a blogger. It's really no more complicated than that.

    A blog is sharing.

Ah, but you see, he does not write emails or memos - in fact he is the type who will get up and walk across the entire building to talk to someone if they do not answer their phone. He actually tends to despise email & writing in general. :)

Question: Do you keep a personal, private journal? Would you share it with your partner if they asked to see it?...
Hello, blogging world. First off - I'm mostly writing as a sort of online diary kinda thing. This is for my benefit, not yours, so if you don't like it... tough! Second, I would appreciate any and all comments anybody would like to make. I know the way I...
A personal journal entry about a sexual harassment case against a co-worker who had released pornographic images of me at work....
OK, you would think I have enough places that I write...2 blogs, facebook, Twitter...I am all over the internet. But I think I am going to start a personal journal again as well.

Many people think that that is what a blog is, a journal...but...
