    Congratulations!

Morning sickness is kind of a misnomer, isn't it?  What worked for me was avoiding odors which triggered nausea (this varies from person to person) trying to keep a little bit of something in my stomach all the time.  Other people swear by lemon ginger, something minty, or Sea-Bands, which are designed to prevent seasickness.

If you're tired, try to sneak some naps in if your schedule allows.

The good news is that for most women, nausea and fatigue will be out of the way after the first trimester.

Congratulations Merlin!  I'm sorry you're feeling ill, but I have no advice I'm afraid...I never had morning sickness, only headaches when I was pregnant.  But, like Eilan said, for most women it stops in the 4th month.
    Take care of yourself.

I did not suffer from morning sickness, except for one afternoon, I could not stop hurling, Ohhhhhhh, I shiver  just thinking of that afternoon.

Sorry, I cannot advice on the morning sickness, as far as feeling tired all the time, if you can take cat naps, take up walking, drink plenty of water.

    Congrats, merlin! :)

I had morning sickness with my now-8-month-old, and I found that sometimes just having a piece of candy (not mint-flavored, but like a lemon drop) in my mouth would help to head off the nausea. Also, if you feel sick when you need to get out of bed, you can try keeping some crackers and water by the bed. Eat a few crackers before you get up, and that might help, too.

Eat smaller, more frequent meals instead of big ones. Energy-wise, I think that and staying very well hydrated keeps the fatigue to a minimum - but you'll still be tired no matter what!

And take extra-great care of yourself right now. Your body is doing something exhausting but amazing! :)

    Congratulations!

I've never been pregnant, but a few years ago a friend of mine who knew a lot about holistic medicine told me that regular mustard is really good for nausea.  She recommended putting a little bit on a saltine cracker.  The cracker helps too since it's bland and absorbent and puts a little something in your stomach.

Equally years ago my childhood best friend was pregnant with her first child and she was very careful not to eat big meals but to always eat something small every two hours so her stomach was never empty.  She said that helped her a lot.  And it was good in the later months too when the baby was getting big and there wasn't as much room in her stomach!

You must be having so many feelings right now!  But I hope that one of them, at least, is happiness!  I wish you all the best for this pregnancy and this baby!

merlin, don't hate me, still trying!!!!!!!!!!!!! stress got the better of me.... but I am still trying!
  • the_infernal_optimist said on Feb 09, 2008....
Merlin, pregnancy definitely makes a lot of women more emotional. It's normal to feel all kinds of things, and to cry at the drop of a hat (or at a sappy commercial on tv, etc.).

Hey Merlin! Congratulations! Don't worry about the morning sickness. It will go away after a while. At least it did for me! I also noticed that if I took fluids only after having had taken some food, I did not throw up! Really happy for you.
    Hugs, hugs and more hugs.
