Usually when I meditate, I see a blue swallowtail (butterfly) against a white background. The butterfly faces away from me, and I watch the wings open and close.

Last time I tried it, the butterfly was closer to me than it usually is, and it was facing me. Very disconcerting - and I have no idea why or how that happened. That's the first time in years it's been any different at all.

Anyone have any experience with this?

sometimes when i do i feel like i'm floating away.......sometimes like i'm falling asleep.
i don't see any specific image when i meditate......i'm new to it...so i probably don't know what i'm talking about.

That's unusual to me--to see any "same" image when you meditate.  I sometimes get strange "flashes" of images, and I jump as if for a second I had actually been there--but never the same thing--like a butterfly.  That's cool.  I would have no idea why it would change.

I have no idea either infernal..but I think its pretty cool.  I'd love to be able to see that same beautiful butterfly.

sometimes i have a candle......like feeding the negative into the flame and letting it burn away.

infernal- I can't meditate. I've tried numerous times and just can't do it. I had a cassette once that was supposed to be good for meditation- it put me to sleep.

That is a very interesting thing you described, though.

I've never meditated.  ;-)  I think if I tried, it would look like a 3 ring circus act.

I'm still in the novice stage of meditation, learning to still my thoughts - usually when I can't sleep because my mind won't stop working.  I conjure up an image/color/sensation that I want to focus on (blue, oceans, nothingness, floating, etc.).  I'm not advanced enough yet (read: I can't get my brain to shut up!) to do it the other way - clear my mind and see what comes to me.  So I have no clue about what you're experiencing.

That would freak me out too, though.  I don't blame you.  I wonder what it means.  It's like your spirit guide is suddenly getting more direct with you or perhaps that you are taking a more direct control over something in your life?  But that still leaves the "why" or "what" behind the change.

    Weird, but interesting!

Meditation is not my strong suit. I've tried, but I can't do it. Apparently I never made it far enough in the process to actually visualize anything like a butterfly. But I think I tend to agree with what Nytquill said. I think your spirit guide is trying to tell you something. Something staring you in the face that maybe you're not wanting to see. I'm not sure though.

maybe your eyes can see more...like a new awakening..

I would think this means you're preparing to face something head on, and your spirit already knows it.  What feeling, besides disconcerted, did you have when you looked at it?

Thanks for all of the responses, you guys. :) You've offered some very intriguing perspectives.

Grace, I felt put on the spot a little in addition to being taken aback...like I was supposed to know why it was looking at me.

I wonder how he does it sometimes, my little yoda. He called me at 2:15 am last night. It's ok, me and my chattering thoughts were wide awake.

"Do not become your doubts," he said quietly.
