short version: giants wide receiver plaxico burress has apparently predicted a 23-17 giants victory in the superbowl. long version: no, really.

commentary: traditionally, NFL players are smart enough not to make such comments b/c if there's one thing that'll bite your butt every time, it's murphy's law. while i think that burress is going to have an advantage against the relatively short DBs that new england plays, you just know some pats LB is gonna hit him hard during the game. and i fully expect cheap shotter rodney harrison to put a little something extra on his tackles.

[sigh]

You're really getting into this, Ed.  I had no idea you were such a football fan.

I don't even know who Plaxico Burress is. It sounds like something I would take for high cholesterol and have to worry about a long list of side-effects.

I had something semi-intelligent to say, but it got lost in the laughter after I read TS's comment (I've had that thought before!). :-D

    OMG. TS....that was....[snickers]

To answer Ed's question, yes, he's insane.

I actually heard that quote by him on the radio.  It seemed pretty cocky.  Do I get a gold star or something?  Just don't ask anymore than that about the Super Bowl because I haven't a clue :-D

mimi: well, i'm a giants fan, after all... :>

TS: [chuckle] he's been playing a bad ankle all season and still has been extraordinary, esp in the NFC championship game. and yeah, weird name, i agree.

    infernal: heh...hey, it was funny!

super z: he's usually so low-key and laid back, so i was shocked and i'm pretty sure coach coughlin was spectacularly unenthusiastic that he said it!

CW: yeah, i agree it was cocky and yes, i'm impressed! :>

Didn't some Steelers safety get cocky and get his ass handed to him by the Pats offense?  Hope it doesn't happen to the Giants.
  • silverwhisper said on Feb 01, 2008....
eilan: yep, i believe so. and burress was up until a few years ago himself a steeler.

Plaxico Burress pre-Superbowl Exercise:  Open Mouth, Insert Foot

Ed, I am not happy that he did that.  But I still think the Giants are going to win (it's my birthday present, which is Monday, from them :)  ) I think that the score will be much higher and much closer.  Hopefully, it doesn't come down to a field goal kick....YIKE!!!

  • silverwhisper said on Feb 01, 2008....
    yeah, i'm not happy, either...ah, well. i guess we'll see, huh? :>

Here's hoping his oral diarrhea clears up before Sunday.

considering that i don't think the pats have been held to 17 points in a half, i'll drink to that!

I kind of think the Giants will win 17-14.
  • silverwhisper said on Mar 02, 2008....
ah, so you feel burress was overly generous in his estimation of the pats offense? :>
