I dont' know about you, but I am sick and tired of getting emails that tell me:

"I can satisfy my girlfriend with a bigger d*ck" - okay, first of all, I don't have that particular appendage being female myself; second of all does anybody believe this really works?

or

"I can get free pharmaceuticals - including all host of oxycodeine, viagra, anti-depressants, etc. all without a prescription" - again, do people realize that none of this is regulated and that they are probably only getting aspirin in bottle which is mislabled?

or

my friends who send me the chain emails which tell me that I have to send this out to 15 people or else I will have bad luck for the rest of my life.

or

the emails which tell me I will get cancer from roll on deoderant; women are being attacked by perfume weilding psychopaths in parking lots, that Bill Gates will pay me for every email I forward or the one about the little girl/boy who has been missing since the dawn of time and if you send this to everyone you know they will be found - all of which you can find out that are hoaxes if you just go to Hoax.com or any of the other debunking sites out there.

or finally, the following (of which I receive about 3 of them a week!)

FROM MADAM Elian Clement
 COTE D'IVOIRE,ABIDJAN.
 IVORY COAST.

 Dearest One,

I am Mrs. Elian Clement from Ivory Coast. I am a widow being that I lost my husband a couple of months ago. My husband was a serving director of the Cocoa exporting board until his death.
He was assassinated last january by the rebels following the political uprising. Before his death
he  has account in a bank here in Côte d´Ivoire, having up to the sum of $18M which he told the bank was for the importation of cocoa processing machine.

I want you to do me a favour to receive this funds to a safe account in your country or any safer place as the beneficiary.

I have plans to do investment in your country, like real estate and industrial production. This is my reason for writing to you. Please if you are willing to assist me and my only son, indicate your interest in replying soonest.

Thanks and best regards.

Mrs.Elian Clement.

I am almost amazed that this one is still out there - which obviously means that someone is being taken advantage of.  Are people still THAT stupid?

They have a great commercial on TV in my area to warn people of internet scams  - it's a guy sitting down next to this woman on a bus saying the exact same thing that the above *letter* says - with the tag, and I am paraphrasing - If you wouldn't believe it in real life, why would you on line.

I'm sick of getting email like this too, especially when it works it's way though the spam/junk filter on either my personal email address or my work one.

Unfortunately, it's not just via email that you will see these any more. You'll see them posted on Soulcast by spammers here as well.

All that goes into my junk box and is never opened. I can't believe that people are so naive to even open e-mails with certain names on.

Skald, Ed and Zayda - I have outlook as my main email and an aol account I have had since 1991.  With the outlook, it marks it as [spam] or [phish] so I actually don't open it.  It doesn't mean that I am not tired of hitting the damn delete button!

In fact, in a three week period of time, I have more than 460 emails in my delete box which qualify as spam.  GRRRR.

I do the same thing Ed - if something comes to me by my friends, the first thing I do is look to see if it is a hoax, and then send a link with a terse email back saying: please look it up before you spread this rumor....usually it is a hoax....

Oh!! and one other thing that truly ticks me off - people who hit "Reply All" when they are invited to an event, party, networking event, etc. I don't need to know whether you are coming or not!  Reply to the person who invited you!!

i love those commercials future, they make the point so well! nobody would listen to someone sitting right beside them saying those kinds of things. they also kinda point out the fact that things really do seem much different on the internet than in real life, and people tend to forget that fact. and yes, people still do fall for those. one of the people in the building that i work at was asking the director of helpdesk if there was anything they could do to get their money back from one of these.
