There aren't as many change makers as there once were in casinos, because automatic change machines have been installed. But as you probably already know, these machines refuse to take any bill that has as much as a wrinkle in it. Until the change machines are perfected, then, change people will still be wandering around the slots sections of the casino, taking bills and handing out coins.

And they are a bored lot, easy to approach and easy to befriend. Change people are also an observant group, and probing their minds before you start playing can't hurt. Don't be afraid to ask things like, "Say, which one of these machines is ready to hit the jackpot?"
Or, "Any machines around here I should avoid?"

Be discreet, because change people won't want to start dispensing winning advice if their boss is watching. Every once in a while, though, you're liable to pick up a tidbit that leads to winning.

(It's good casino etiquette that, if you so accept a piece of advice from a change person and you do hit it big, give a nice tip. You'll feel even better.)
