What would be your dream vacation? A few days basking under the bright sun, drinking tropical drinks, slathered with coconut scented tanning lotion? Or maybe drinking hot cocoa in front of a roaring fire after hitting the bunny slopes? Okay, pretty standard boring stuff, standard vacation, slide show material. Vacation to me...A week of exploring the ancient pyramids, burial chambers and lost artifacts, enjoying amazing smells and tastes of spicy exotic foods. Afterwards, off to Italy. Or more precisely, Sicily. The one week we'll be spending here will not only be for food(although I think we'll be gaining a lot of weight here!) and sights. This week will be spent researching the ancestry of my better half. After that wirlwind, my turn!!! Portugal...here we come! My turn to research my family hisory. My, what a vacation that would be!! Now, if only we had the money!! Any suggestions?

I'm with you nichol....I mean not literally, I'm actually with Mrs. HBC but what I mean is your dream vacation sounds fantastic. There is nothing more wonderful than seeing history and tasting Sicily.

China is a good start. I have been there twice and there is still so much to see. I would be especially interested in Tibet and then the Himalayas and the Karakoram - moving out of China now, I know. Also looking at South Africa (the Drakensberg Mountains), Namibia (sand dunes), Iceland (volcanoes), Antartica (ice, ice, and more ice, and some penguins too), Turkey (Cappadocia), Italy (Dolomites), and France just because. And I still need a month in the American Southwest, a good two weeks at least in Alaska, and more time in the Andes. All trips include hiking, climbing, tenting, and exploring, tied in with a ravenous lust for photographing the beauty of it all! When will I ever get to Ellesmere Island and the Nahanni River of northern Canada? Someday. Oh, oh! And the Kamchatka Peninsula. Gotta take the backcountry tour there. Then maybe back to Australia and New Zealand for a second visit... I'll shut up now. I won't even mention Mongolia and Morocco.

I'd like to tour Ireland and Scotland, and visit some of the ruins and other historic places in those countries. After that, I sure wouldn't mind holing up in a Swiss mountain chalet, making love on the warm hearth and not having a care in the world for a few days. :)

Ahhh...vacation. I first want to go to Japan. I also want to go to Alaska. I want to go to both Japan and Alaska because I lived both places when I was very young and want to go back. I don't really remember Japan at all because I was a baby; I remember some experiences from Alaska, but I was till relatively young when living there. I would love to go back to Puerto Rico again and and take more time to explore Old San Juan and the fort as well as visit the rain forests again and stroll along the beaches at sun set. I long to hear the "coqui" again.

I'd like to spend a year in Japan but I'm not sure I'd fit in.

My dream vacation would be to travel in Europe for a while. I've always wanted to go there, see England, spend some time in a Paris café, see Helsinki, German and trace my family history. I think if I went on vaction to Europe though, I'd never come back, ;-).

Motorbike tour across Europe. England, Switzerland, France, Italy, etc. Nothing but a credit card. New clothes as needed, good food, good rainsuit. Small pistol, lots of ammo. I think I just talked myself out of it all.
