We looked at our budget this week and realized that we weren't going to be able to get both a new apartment and a new car.  There was some heavy thinking and introspection going on, and we were both a little disappointed.  But we always knew it was likely to come to this, so at least it wasn't a shock.  After a little discussion, we both agreed that a car is the better choice.  It will really change what we are able to do in life, whereas a new apartment without a car is just a change of scenery.

Then, he said the magic words. "Let's fix up the place.  I mean, it's not such a bad apartment, if we cleaned out some of the junk, made some room in storage, get the concierge to come fix all the stuff that's broken, decorate it to our style...I think we could make it pretty livable really."

My brain froze over at "decorate!"  I've been thinking the same thing for a year or so now (honestly, sweetie, can we get rid of the leaky dishwasher that's been under the table for a year and a half?) but I HATE to nag or force issues, and anyway I know him.  He's got to have the idea himself or it just won't take hold  He's like me that way!

Oh, and it gets better.  A couple hours after that discussion, he says, "You knowI really need some new pants.  And all my socks have holes in them.  I still have that gift card to the mall that I got at Christmas...would you like to go shopping this weekend?"

Woohoo!! That's going to be great! :-D

I can relate to the "has to come up with it himself" part, too. You have no idea (or maybe you do!) how exciting it was when DH said we could spend a small part of our tax refund when it gets here on a matching sheet set! :-p

Oh yes it will be great! I'm kind of glad actually because I have this really cute wall quilt I'm working on that will go perfectly in our bedroom and now it will actually end up going in that bedroom.  And I have been dying to get rid of some of our clutter.  I don't think I can get him to do a clean sweep, but we will definitely have more space and less junk for me to clean around.

Oh, and I have $50 in gift certificates at a smelly-stuff store (lotions and soaps and things!).  And I need another 5lb hand weight from Canadian Tire.  And I have a bunch of personal money saved...maybe some new lingerie or new clothes or completing my CD collections (yes please!)

Ohh the plans I have... muahahahaha!

Um, I'm the bad one. I have a hard time throwing things away. I mean, what if I need it?

But hubby's idea of decoration is positively spartan. Considering the rugrats have perfected the art of destruction, maybe I should adopt my husband's style. It would be a lot less heartbreaking. :)

I am really pretty bad for keeping stuff, although it doesn't sound that way in this post.  I'm really a sentimental packrat with a compulsion to collect things.  But I think that being naturally so emotional, I've overdeveloped my decision-making logic to compensate and I've gotten pretty good at using it, too.

Then again, you should see my stash of quilting fabric and random metal parts and bits of string and things I don't know what it goes to anymore so I'm scared to throw it away.  And somewhere at my parents house I have all my baby teeth and every single school-related piece of paper I ever brought home...

First theory for the year:

Complications are just a state of mind. {{Still trying to convince myself}}...
I have the power to teach some of the men who hurt me when I was younger a lesson or two. Will I do it? Can I possibly just let it go when the things they did to me still haunt, everyday? Will I be able to better myself as a result of the pain?

Last night, I went out to a bar to go dancing. When I got there, I bumped into a couple of friends, and I was very surprised to see Drake of all people out the corner of my eye....
So, if you remember from my previous post, Clark was a bit of a jackass. Or, that's how it remains in my memory. I got a surprise text from him last night, asking me if I was going to hit up a certain bar....
