got the final push for my db project tonight and i'm turning it in to my client tomorrow. been using music to help keep me focused. accordingly, as a huge bruce fan, i created a few bruce-only playlists.

note to self: a 16+ hour playlist exclusively comprised of springsteen's studio music w/ the e street band, while wonderful, doesn't lend itself to wrestling w/ VBA and access 2k.

in future, consider using metallica's kill 'em all on endless shuffle instead.

    It's a bird...it's a plane...it's the silver streaker in a drive-by post! :-D

    Love the Metallica idea. :-D

    [cheers ed on]

Put on some Suicidal Tendencies. And maybe some other punk/thrash type music. Get that testosterone flowing, man!

[takes off my own air mask and offers it to you}, I didn't realize you were holding your breath that whole time! here, hon, breath deeply and get 'er done!

You need something more pulse pounding than Bruce--Metallica, NIN, Nickelback. Go, go, go.
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 29, 2008....
infernal: is it a drive by if i'm physically standing still, though?

TS: heh...as i was thinking about it i was thinking NIN might do the trick nicely. :D

    mamie: bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!

super z: or i could go w/ one of the live playlists--those max weinberg drums...

my favorite into-the-last-mile playlist, when i was into beat-the-deadline database programming, included the who's quadrophenia, johnny winters live, and selections from jeff beck. the sound of electric guitars somehow frighten the bugs away...lol.

    go go go ed!

infernal: i suppose that works! :D

moon: ah, i possess neither the music of johnny winters nor jeff beck, sadly...

update: it's 3:10 am as i write this. i need to stop working at 8 or so in order to: 1) have breakfast, 2) pack up the laptop, make a backup of the app onto my thumb drive, and 3) get out the door on the way to my meeting, scheduled for 10:30, i believe. the forms are designed, all that remains is the audit trail, at long last...and this is really testing the very limits of my meager VBA knowledge, i must say.

p.s.: super z, neglected to comment on the fact that i was thinking NIN even before reading your comment. great minds, or something like that. :>

ed -- to be honest about it, all my who, johnny winters, jeff beck albums were lost (probably pilfered by younger cousins) when i left the old family house in the 80's. i'm gradually rebuilding a digital collection thru friends' bootleg cd's and thru limewire... ;-)

  • silverwhisper said on Jan 30, 2008....
moon: ah, limewire...if i had broadband, i'd probably spend an unholy amount of time there to make up for my relatively meager music collection... :>

update: 6:23 am as i write this. the audit trail is not completely coded, but i think everything else--including the recalcitrant autonumber fields--is and runs properly.

if i deliver the app sans audit trail but promise to keep working on it will that work? if i can't get it done in the next 1.5 hrs, i guess i'll have no choice but to find out.

Best of luck on completing the project, ed.

BTW. I don't have broadband either but I do use Limewire.  It takes FOREVER to download the music, but I just let it do its thing while I'm working on something else.

ed, cw -- i do that too, cw. and some days, i just leave limewire downloading overnight. i collected lots of classical music that way too.

and good luck, ed. i know how it is to rush from home to office to beat a deadline -- with your head in the clouds not because of euphoria but because of lack of sleep...lol.

    moon,
I have downloaded a lot of my favorite tunes from Limewire by leaving it to do its thing while I was out at the lake walking. :-)

CW, moon: thank you, guys. :>

after action report: db was delivered, sans functioning audit trail. this will probably be satisfactory. i wasted an entire week of work+ converting their paradox-based legacy app.

    lessons learned:

    1. always study legacy app before assembling a quote.
    2. consider asking client to establish FTP site for project delivery.
