If you are new, there are several things that could help you get more attention and attract readers:.....

  1.   Go to the top left hand side of your blog where it says edit my profile, or you can also find it next to your name top center of your blog, and click it on and give a little description of yourself.

2. Write a blog, stating that you are new, and a little about yourself, mainly your interests, etc.

3. On the SoulCast Featured Page, start going down the line, and posting to those bloggers who are featured, letting them know you are new, and you like their blog, etc.

4.  Remember to subscribe back to those who have subscribed to you, and also subscribe to those blogs you want to re-visit.  Having their usernames at the left side of your blog will remind you of those blogs you are most interested in reading.

5.  Also, answer those who have left comments on your blog.  Blogges like to know that you have taken the time to read their comments and recognize them for it.

6.  Check out ( 4 Newbies ) tags to gain information on how different features here at SoulCast work.

There are many other things you can do, but this is a good start.

I'm glad you posted this.  When I was new, I didn't know a thing about blogging or how to even get around to other blogs.  I certainly didn't know how to subscribe.
  • crybabylu said on Jan 29, 2008....
I know what you mean. I didn't know anything, and kept asking different ones, and thought they must think I am dumb or something.

how do we change our name(if we decide to change it)? thanks again...=)
  • kumarilata said on Jan 29, 2008....

Right above the comments on every blog is an area that says, subscribe to........

If you want to change your username later on, the only thing that you could do is sign up under another one.  I know a blogger told me that he even moved all his posts to his blog over the the second username.  You can always change your password, but the username remains, even if you should leave SoulCast and blog somewhere else.

Of course, if you leave or anytime while you are still blogging, you can delete any or all posts you like.  But, the username remains.  It was so written in the terms and conditions when you signed up to blog on SoulCast.

If you do want to sign up under a username, you can let readers know it is you under a new name, or you can do it anonymously, and just start blogging under that username too.  There is no limit to how many usernames you have here.  It is all up to you.

I think the best approach is to immediately become a pity hound. Everyone here likes to feel as if they are giving advice to the less advantaged.

So speak of youself as being very lonely and bereaved. That works.

Say that you just can't go on and have a decision to make (just act confused when you write it out) that will get a couple hundred hits easily.

To be a little more accurate on the topics take a look at the top draw for hits and just copy and paste the post and change a few key words. That is a sure killer blog style. Once you have the right mix of pity components keep to that line and you will be in soulcast heaven.

This is helpful. How do you post pictures?
  • sheltercrow said on Jan 30, 2008....
You can copy and paste from flickr and photo bucket like this... right click on the picture / click copy / right click on where you want it pasted and click paste. Since that picture is from flickr you can test it using it like this...

Hahaha...hmm, yeah we do have quite a number of sad situations/stories, but comeon, isnt that what drives one to a blog site in the first place- the need to let loose teeming emotions/pain.

Smiles..if i didnt know beta, i myt have just agreed with u and tried that out myself! But lets not be cruel, i/we feel for the sadness some ppl have to talk about. Hey i have some pity stories of my own!

    George_Bush_in_Human_Costume

I am here to write a graduate thesis on Being and Nothingness. I find that all the material I need is all contained in these digital dialogs.

In the coming days I may test that copy and paste idea and see how many hits I get. Of course I'll have to get an alter login like "hearts_desire" or "life_zombie" for it to work.

I bet there are at least a hundred posts on suicidal ideation alone I can plunder.

This is what everyone sees when they look right above the comments:

aris_jay2002...when you look at your own, it says send to a friend where we see, subscribe to aris_jay2002.

On everyone else's blog you will see subscribe to._________Whatever their username is, all you do is click it on, and you become a subscriber to them.

This is a "must read" for new people.  Everyone swears by this, and it is how I learned to post pictures and videos:

This is the way I feel is to ge the most out of SC.

First and foremost they way to make your presence known is to comment on the most popular posts i.e. the ones that are on the first few pages of the Home Page.  This is how people will be able to get to know you and how you will get people to come and read your posts and perhaps even subscribe to you.

On the Home Page of SC there the following tabs at the top of the page:

Home = The pages (usually around 10-15) of the most read posts and usually also oldest first and the most recent last.  These pages are refreshed every 24 hours i.e. once your post has been published for 24 hours it will no longer appear on the Home pages.

My Users = All the most recent posts written by people to whom you have subscribed.  I.e. when you subscribe to someone because you like to read what they write this where you will go to "find" out the latest from them.

My Interests = All posts that contain the similar "tags" that you have used for your own posts e.g. if one of your tags is "life" and you click here all the posts that have also been tagged life will also come up here.  I strongly feel that it is better to use single word tags rather than sentences, because it will help to use this My Interests tab. . .that chances are slim that others would have used the exact same wording as you in a sentence.

My Conversations = All the posts to which you have previously left a comment and also your posts to which others have left comments.  This is a very nice way to keep track of conversations and makes it easy to reply to others.

NOTE: Once you have commented on a post, in order to get back to the Home Page you need to click on the large SoulCast icon in the top left corner of the screen.

I use My Conversations and My Users the most as it keeps me up to date with the users I am interested in reading.
