Just found out this morning that my (relatively new) draftsperson is planning on leaving for another state in a few weeks, just as soon as she gets her tax return. She said she needs to do this so she isn't around her parents or her sisters, as there's apparently a lot of friction going on in her personal life. I do understand. She's got to do what is best for her. Unfortunately, it sucks for us at the office...
She has been missing a lot of time at work lately for personal reasons, and she's had a target on her back for a potential layoff. But work has been so busy, we faught to keep her aboard because we need the help. And she does good work (when she's here), so we've been really trying to keep her.
Unfortunately, the past couple of times she has been out, the other estimator and I have been juggling the load to get things done, and our General Manager made the comment, "Hm. Maybe we don't need a third person there after all."
AAARRRGGGHHH!
We're already overworked. I'm already working well over fifty hours a week. And if/when she goes, we're pretty much screwed. And she's just told us today that she is plannning on going. #$%^.
Thank you oh so #$%^ing much. So much for us encouraging and trying to help her. So much for us sticking up for her to try and keep her from getting axed. And so much for getting anything done on time anymore...
So help me, if she developes "Short-Timer's Syndrome", I'm gonna smack her with a roll of prints. Repeatedly.
I'd squeeze my stress ball, but I broke it last week. Need to order one from office supplies... Damn.
