I think Bush tried to be encouraging. But so many people now turn off whatever he says, because they don't believe him anymore.

The speech tonight was a little disheartening in that he mentioned things that he thought were his successes, that have already been disproven.

Another thing that got me was that he was so out of touch with the American people.  Downright disengaging.

Well, I don't know what anyone expected.  He hasn't said anything that was on the mark yet!

I was watching on the TV over and over. My Tivo went out last night, and I was stuck watching the news over and over.

I'm sorry, I couldn't bring myself to watch.

I don't watch political speeches generally. Bush should be a carnival barker. I don't mean to hate him. I don't think he's much worse than his predecessors, and I think he was quite a bit better than a few of them, with less blood on his hands. But he is a pathological liar and a traitor to the American people. Not that this description wouldn't apply to most of his predecessors. i find it completely hollow when people turn against him now, considering that he was elected twice. Well, maybe not elected twice, but placed in office twice. I'm not sure he was ever really elected. It's too late now to turn against him. The time for that was before his reelection. Now it doesn't count one little bit.

I know exactly what you mean. Now it is just a matter of waiting, and hoping he doesn't do anything more devastating than he already has done.

There are a few things that are not apparent in Bush's Stimulus Package.

No matter how much he give out in rebates, that money is borrowed anyway and will have to be paid back with interest by the recipients as a future tax burden. It is to be viewed as a loan.

The break for capitol spending for the corporations is not a rebate out but a pay less tax gimmick. It is not a loan to be paid back and can be considered a real giveaway.

Making the one time tax break for the wealthy permanent is like that gimmick for the corporations.

    Net result:

The rebates to the middle class will eventually have to be paid back to cover the borrowed payout. A future debt to the tax payers.

The corporations will have freely acquired more capitol stock with no resultant debt to pay back and essentially have it paid for by a higher tax burden to the tax payers. A future debt to the tax payers.

Making permanant that one time tax break for the wealthy created a future debt to the tax payers.

The corporations and the wealthy have all the breaks with a future tax burden on the middle class.

Can you tell me how this will help stimulate the economy?

Bush is a traitor to the American people. As always. Every word out of his mouth is filth. Every plan he has is a plan to stab us in the back. In that, he is pretty much like all of his recent predecessors. Wait til his replacement gets in. It will be more of the same. Teddy Roosevelt, we need you back, even with your damn war mongering. You were the last one to care about the people and help them, except for your nephew, but his faults were more serious than yours, so I don't count him. The government of the U.S. is an organ that is designed these days to find new ways to make the rich richer at the expense of the American people. That is its only function, and it's doing a damn good job of it. It is your enemy and has you fooled really well. Uncle Sam is a greedy, evil, lying son of a bitch, and no friend of yours.
