I told my sister that I am gay. I told her today. She was in denial and kept telling me that I am confused and that this is a phase. To be honest, I did expect a little more from my sister, but it seems that she is no better than my parents. Before I could even tell her not to tell my parents, she told me she would never mention it again, meaning that she would never tell my parents because she knows it will be too much of a shock for them. It makes you wonder what the point of family is. I'm glad I told her though. She was like a test for me. If this can't get through to my sister, then it will never go well with my parents.

Congratulations, adamt, for your bravery in telling your sister who you are, even though it was difficult. I am surprised in this day and age that people still struggle with it. I just don't believe that anyone should ever be "in the closet" but that we should all walk with our heads held high. That is rough. And while your sister's reaction is less than ideal, I would say not to give up hope in getting through to her just yet - with some time and thought she is likely to realize you are 1) being serious and it isn't going to change and 2) you are the same brother she has always known and loved.
