Ticket scalpers are getting big bucks for SuperBowl tickets.  Average price:  $4300.  Would you pay it?

If a team you loved made it to the SuperBowl, would you pay the big bucks for tickets?  It just amazes me sometimes what fans are willing to pay.  A man in Massachusetts, a Patriots' fan of course, is paying nearly $30,000 for a package that includes the tickets, and a hotel accomodations for three nights, and some other stuff.

Full story here.

So, what's your price?

naw, I go to the Eagles games so that is a nice fix. I wouldn't even go to the superbowl unless I really wanted to go to the city it is actually in. The game would be secondary...so I guess, unless it was kind of free, I probably wouldn't go. And if it is somewhere cold and nasty then I will watch from home thank you.

Nope. I wouldn't. However much I like my team I would not buy from a tout out of principle.

Hell, no!  If we had $4300, we'd be putting it toward a TV and sound system for our newish family room.
  • skald said on Jan 28, 2008....
    No I would not.

For me the question would be how much would they have to pay me to go to the Superbowl, not how much I'd have to pay. Considering that I'd lose time from work and have to buy plane tickets, and hotel bills, they'd have to pay for all that. If I could go for free, if they'd pay all my expenses, maybe I'd go.

I'm not into football (don't shoot me) but if I were, I wouldn't travel and spend money to watch what I can see better on tv probably.  I just saw on the local news that a couple had "won" the chance to buy tickets at discount--$700 each for them.  I thought that was a strange "win."  I did have a fine time at a superbowl party at home once.....I don't remember who won.

Hey, I am a huge Giants' Fan and I wouldn't pay that to go.  I don't care how much money you have.  What I would do, instead, is take that money, buy a HDTV Flat Panel about 72" wide, stereo surround and have a party at my place.

it depends on my cash flow. price is relative to income. if i made a million dollars a year, and had half of that was disposable, sure, i'd pay that to go. why not? $2300 wouldn't mean that much to me. i'd drop that much having my ferarri detailed. but in my current situation, that's nearly a year's rent, and i wouldn't trade the place i live for a few hours of watching overpaid, undertalent atheletes support the television commercial industry.
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 28, 2008....
    of course i'd pay it!

using someone else's money, right? :D

    what's that?

    ...

    o hell no!

FG, i like the way you think. :D

Uhhh...Silver had me worried there for a minute!

I wouldn't...ever even if I did have the means to do so, or if I could name my price.

I'm guessing the guy thought by doing that, it was worth avoiding the hassle of getting the room, tickets, air, and just buy what someone else already did.  I hope they win so he can say that it was worth it!  Oh...and because I'm a Pat's fan, lol!

My team is playing and I still wouldn't go even if I had the funds to be stupid with.  I went to the World Series when I was younger and that was enough for me as far as big sporting events.  I can't handle the chaos at all.

The thrill for me righ now is watching the history from the new stadium in the state I once lived in, but with my home team playing there!  I'm glad I don't live there at this very moment.  I spoke with a friend who said it's already a traffic mess!  That, and it's been pouring there.

I took my medication, so I hope this makes sense, lol!

    Are you serious?
Well I understand if your  super fan...but I never would pay that much to anyone, anything..ESPECIALLY WHEN I CAN SEE IT FOR FREE!

I love football VERY much..but no way would I ever pay that much to see over payed sports players "PLAYING" what they love to do.

Destiny, American football is like your silly football except that you are allowed to use your hands, and all the guys are a lot bigger because they are good little boys who religiously take their steroids (the ones that don't test positive, the expensive ones), and they wear helmets to jam into each other's bodies, and shoulder pads to jam into each other's bodies, to wreak havoc, on other people's bodies. Plus, in American football, teams actually score more than once an hour, so it's easier to stay awake during the games.

As I suspected, everybody here has their priorities straight.  I would definitely not pay even a fraction of $4300 for a ticket to the SuperBowl.  So if you're not buying, and I'm not buying, who is?

  • RollingC said on Jan 29, 2008....
I'll tell you who would....aside from people that don't have their priorities right...for God knows what reason...the ones who have an overflow of money certainly would.   Where I work I see some strange things that people do with their money like it was nothing.... but then they have the cash flow to be extroverts if they want to be.

I much prefer watching at home to dealing with the crowd and the noise.  I doubt I'd actually go to the game even if it was free.

Grace - I'm with you - I would rather be at home/friends, next to a fridge full of beer and food and just relax on a couch rather than sitting in hard stadium seats.... I never can get comfortable on those

One of my friends at work was telling me about this date she went on the other night, and she wanted a man's opinion about the whole thing. I was more than happy to tell her what I thought, but I am curious what other people might think too....
