I have a cyst.

I went to my first gynecology appointment ever in my life...and they found a bigger than small growth in my cervix (at least I think that's where it is...can't really remember much of it now).

They did a biopsy...

That's all I've got right now.

I've had cysts on and off for about 20 years.
I got my first real young too. I don't know what your Dr. advised you,
but mine always assured me that cysts are relatively common, most
are benign, and they only advocate surgery if they feel it may burst.
Hormones (the pill) and pregnancy (maybe a bit drastic?) are usually
sure cures. (2 wks after my appt re: the cysts, I found out I was pregnant!!)
    Ha.  Good  Luck sweetie

hi tbs... welcome to the club!

i am going through the same process like you right now. so far i am also being monitored for any changes.

lets hope and pray that you and I will go through this just fine.

    Hugs for you dear!
  • FutureGoddess said on Jan 28, 2008....
TBS - you will be fine!  I have had a couple of infected cysts over the years - if the pain is bad and it doesn't resolve itself, which 90% of the time it does, then they do what they did with you - remove it, biopsy it, and tell you all will be well.  And I am optimistic that it will be!  Keep smiling!

  • wombat said on Jan 28, 2008....
Hope it turns out ok for you, as it most likely will.  A relative of mine just got out of the hospital from having cysts removed and is doing fine.  I hope to hear that it will be the same for you.

You are in my thoughts and prayers, hope all turns out well.

  • JadeLondon said on Jan 28, 2008....
Hopefully, it'll be benign. I hope you feel better soon; I know they can be painful (speaking from experience).
  • crybabylu said on Jan 28, 2008....
Usually the cysts are benign, but I'm so glad you had it checked out, because we all need to stay on top of any growth of anykind.    Love & prayers from crybaby & preacherman.

I, obviously, cannot comment personally being my gender but I've been with a few women thru this same thing and while it's nothing to disregard, it's not always as dire as it seems...and, unfortunately, even when it wasn't, thankfully it's turned out well which I'm sure it will with you. Please feel free to get in touch with me as maybe I can offer a perspective different from you've heard.
  • CreativeWoman said on Jan 28, 2008....
I'll say a prayer for you too.  Hang in there.

I'm off to bed...today has been such a long day.

But before I go I wanted to tell everyone how grateful I am for the prayers, the thoughts and the crossed body parts.

Everyone who has shared with me that they've had or know someone who's had a cyst...thank you so much, I need to hear that so badly.

Today I mostly went to class and hung out with a few friends. Trying to keep busy and staying positive.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Sorry TBS. I had an ovarian cyst and got it removed by surgery in 1993. I have been ok since then. I started feeling a mass in my lower abdomen not long ago and a scan showed that another cyst had grown, fortunately this one was the type that could be cured medically. I hope your too is the type that can be easily managed. Hugs and best of luck.

"Ladies, beware of this evil gynecologist doctor. He will do atrocious things to your body without your knowing or consent to collect money from your insurance. It happened to me. I want to help all you ladies, regardless of age, to beware of this evil animal. This Dr. Vincent W. Yu is located at 3655 W. Lomita Blvd., Ste. 209, Torrance, CA 90505. He had another office in Harbor City, CA, which was shut down by the medical board of CA. Many of his patients are young Hispanic girls and Asian women at all ages. The medical board of CA has been investigating him. He lives on Palos Verdes, CA, where many of the doctors in the South Bay live. He will do anything to his patients to get their insurance money. He has internally damaged many women and girls. He uses his doctor's license to invade your body, remove your female organ (if he thinks he can get away with it), and then bill your insurance company for the unnecessary surgery. Do not let him do it to you."
