Today Olia went to a science museum with her girl scout troop to work on a badge. Dan went as a chaperone. Olia had a great time. They worked on their "rocks rock" badge(I'm not sure of the official title of the badge). Then they toured the museum and saw BIG snakes(out of the cage and crawling on the trainer), and mice and other critters. Olia said her favorite part was the mice! That would have been my least favorite part! Olia's best friend Katelyn couldn't go to the event because they had a family ski trip planned. Dan said Olia seemed to mix well with all the girls.
Today I told my friend KIm about the national reunion of adopted ukrainian children. It is going to be held in Hershey, PA and she said she might be interested in going. I would love to meet her and her daughter Jennifer , who was adopted from Olia's orphanage in Sept. We have emailed online but, it would be nice to meet in the flesh! My friend Diana might also attend with her kids who were adopted from the same town as Olia. I am going to email another mom who adopted from Olia's internat and see if she is planning to attend.
Today I was looking at photos of Olia from when we first met her at the orphanage. SHE HAS CHANGED SO MUCH! She is still very thin, but WOW, was she thin at the internat! She has gained about 11 pounds and still wears slim clothes.
Olia loves to cook and bake. Yesterday we made whole wheat waffles from scratch and today we made whole wheat pancakes from scratch. Next weekend we are planning to bake bread. I have a bread machine, but I haven't used it for years, I hope it still works.
