I am posting this mainly because i think I got a touch of the flu yesterday.....I am pretty much over it already, but still have a bit of stomach/intestinal discomfort.
But I rarely get sick....maybe one bout of the flu or a cold maybe once per year, if not less.
My secret......don't kiss sick people! duh! If your kid is blowing chunks....stay away!

How about you?

Do you get sick often?

Do you use much sick time at work?  For sickness? or hooky?

technically -  all the time as I have M.S. I am on a pension. In terms of flues and the like, almost never!

i very rarely get sick although i do have allergies in late spring--i have a little hayfever. but that doesn't really count, if you ask me.

i burn sick days usually b/c i'm actually sick (very rare) or sometimes, if i just wanna play hooky. :>

I never got the lucky card in health, I always get sick!!  I try not to let it effect my studies or work though, having 3 kids you kinda learn to get on with it :-) xx

I suppose that one might have to have the occasional 'well' day to know the difference between well and sick.  Its been a while.  Kinda like you can't truely appreciate light until you have experienced darkness, or visa versa

Actually, I rarely get 'sick' in the colder months.  Summer is when I get my colds and such.  Oh, to be sure I get the shiffles from time to time, but to get laid out sick in the winter is rare.

It varies according to my stress levels. Recently I haven't felt well at all.
  • D6fer said on Jan 27, 2008....
Rupert.....hey sorry to hear about the M.S.   .....Are you able to control it ok?

    Ed.....I think I have some un-diagnosed allergies....they suck!

Destiny.....gotta quit kissin them sick kids!

RWW.....I heard somewhere that most people do get colds more often in warmer months....germs thrive then!

    lala......hope I didn't jinx ya!...you won't hold it against me will ya?

Alyss......I have been under a great deal of stress as of lately myself....maybe that was a trigger?

I don't get sick very often. Maybe once or twice a year.

I'm just now getting over a bout with a cold. I didn't miss any work because of it though.
  • D6fer said on Jan 27, 2008....
tin....colds suck! ever use zicam? That stuff is great, if used as directed anyhow.
  • TinSoldier said on Jan 27, 2008....
No, I just take some pseudo-fed stuff. I'm not big into medicines and the like.

Last time I was sick..hmm...1997.  I caught viral laryngitis from the little girl I was watching.  That was scary!  I couldn't even clear my throat, couldn't make a single sound.
I don't have kids at home anymore so I don't get sick, ever.  My husband catches everything that goes around his office, but I don't catch his colds or anyone else's. I think it's all the tea I drink.
I've never had a flu shot because I haven't had the flu since the 80s.  I don't have any allergies, never get headaches except for the recent vision problem, and they're gone now.  I'd better stop tempting fate here or I'll be stricken with scurvy or something...lol!

D6fer.......my treatment slows its progression fairly well :-)
  • D6fer said on Jan 27, 2008....
Rupert....I don't know much about it.....There is a guy I know who has it, and from what I understand manages it with diet and exercise....are there different forms of M.S.? or does it just effect different people in different ways?
  • Eilan said on Jan 27, 2008....
I get maybe two or three colds a year, but otherwise, I'm pretty healthy. I have allergy trouble from late May to mid-June, but OTC meds usually ease the symptoms. If I had a job, I'd rarely be sick enough to need to use sick days.

Except for my oldest daughter and her ear infections, which she's slowly growing out of, my girls are extremely healthy as well. I can count on one hand the number of times my three youngest daughters have been to the doctor for anything other than well checks. My four-year-old, in fact, has never been sick enough to require a doctor's visit.

Hardly ever... seriously the last time I had a flu or a cold was years ago, the only thing that comes back and haunts me often is my celiacs... but thats not a real illness.

I get a cold once a year or less, and have croup-like symptoms for a few weeks more winters than not (though I've escaped that this year, it seems). I seem to be almost totally immune to stomach viruses and the like.

As a stay-at-home mom, I don't have sick days, so I never take them. ;-) I'm not the curl-up-in-bed sick type though - if I had an outside-of-the-home job, I'd go in anyway unless I felt that the risk of spreading whatever it was to others would make that irresponsible.

  • JadeLondon said on Jan 28, 2008....
I don't have the best of constitutions, but I rarely miss work. At my present job, I've only missed work once. I had a fever of 104. It is the first job I've ever held where I wasn't guilt-tripped for being ill.
  • D6fer said on Jan 28, 2008....

Eilan…..2 or 3? Wow! That sucks! I hate colds!

    Crybabylu….that does suck!

    Ultimate…..thanks….but no thanks!

D6 celiac is allergic to all glutten and wheat products, from breads to sugars.. anything that has glutten in it.
  • travelr712 said on Jan 28, 2008....
    LOL d6!
  • D6fer said on Jan 28, 2008....
Tobi-lee.....my nephew has that....and according to my brother...he was told that it is very common and most often undiagnosed!
  • Lucytorial said on Jan 28, 2008....
Absolutely, it took years to find out what was wrong with me, and a few months to get over it in a way.  I spent 6 months getting rid of things out of my diet, every now and then I slip up but its not a very nice thing to have to be honest... what I'd do for a crusty piece of bread!
