When we launched our humble website in May of 2006, we hoped we'd grow, but we never thought we'd have a following like this. In just over 3 months, our community has grown to more than 20,000 new members! And we get at least 600,000 visitors per month. We were thrilled with the recent Alexa report that revealed that our traffic has been steadily doubling every month. That's more than YouTube and Digg had at their respective launches! Check out the press releases as seen on Tech Daily: SoulCast is Growing Faster Than Digg! and Marketwire: SoulCast is Growing Faster Than YouTube!.

What we're really amazed about is that we've done very little to advertise since we're entirely self-funded. Unfortunately, we don't have the millions to market ourselves like Google does. But clearly, it's not always the in-your-face marketing that proves to be effective. Word-of-mouth advertising from members spreading their experience of connecting with strangers on a personal level to other potential members--this is what has helped us grow. Happy members vocalize their opinions.

Thanks to all of our members for contributing your thoughts, opinions, feelings and general ramblings about anything and everything. Because of our diverse membership, the topics on SoulCast are even more diverse, and we've seen subjects ranging from drug addiction to Buddhist enlightenment. As we continue to grow, our subjects will become even more diverse, and there will be something to spark the interest in just about anyone. Kind of like eBay in a way. So are we going to grow faster and bigger than sites like YouTube or MySpace? Well that's pretty ambitious, but as they say in the web world, only time will tell.

i think the genius behind soulcast is that the software does a fantastic job of blurring the lines b/n a discussion forum and blogging. it's just as addictive as a forum while at the same time not quite as ephemeral or transitory as a forum post. the sense of community is thereby built quickly and the my conversation tab alone facilitates that hugely. you have done a stellar job IMHO of matching the application feature set to that objective and i want you to know that at least this user recognizes and appreciates what you've done. ed

Here Here. I appreciate the efforts you have put forth to make the application work to help facilitate making this feel like a community.

We are in your debt. How about offering a job to the top 5 producers.....

Yep, except for the disappearing text on the right end ofsome lines, everything is great. And deleting tags needs to be added to the edit feature. Sometimes some peopleget all weird and add tags they have second thoughtsabout.

Hunter raises a good point. Some of us are bringing more attention to SoulCast than others. In fact, everyone above me is included in that group. Let's threaten to go on strike if we don't get perks. We will not easily be replaced.

I have found SoulCast to be not only cathartic, but addictive. Hey, I gotta say that I second the Prof & Hunter on their statements about offering jobs! God knows it would be wonderfully awarding to do a job that I actually love. Did I say 'job'? I mean 'career'. I love this place. I dread the possibility of running out of things to say! Keep up the good work. Oh, and if you could find a way for us to be able to edit our comments, it would calm the OCD part of me that notices & hates mistakes. Just a thought. Thanks!

I agree with SW, when he said, that the software does a fantastic job of blurring the lines b/n a discussion forum and blogging.I think that this feature coupled with anonymity has really given all a platform to really cast out ideas from their soul, without fear of retribution of any sort. And that is the topmost feather in SOulcast's hat, in my opinion.Kudos to Soulcast... Keep it up...now with the launch of addtl, features, I think the best will get better.

OK , So it's settled then, when do we start? Do I get business cards? Make it out as follows: Hunter Boyce Chandler, Esq..B.A. M.A. Thd. Professional Blog Facilitator, certified I usually require a secretary but will forgo that luxury in exchange for a new g5. My comission will be based upon a percentage of ad revenue to be determined at a later date. I will require a healthy per diem for publicity venues and substantial stock options. I will provide my own stylist but will be reimbursed for any job related out of pocket expenses. Very reasonable, I should think.

And then came the now-infamous "Crash of August 6th." In the CRASH OF AUGUST 6th, none of the bloggers listed on the "popular" list were able to post any new posts. While still able to comment on others' posts, or edit their own previously-posted posts, they were - with the seeming exception of CreativeWoman - unpostable. While SoulCast officially denies any wrongdoing, the suspicion is widely held that this was an attempt to prove that it is the system, not the participant individuals, that makes this "community." So why is it that when hunter or other familiar leaders haven't posted for a day or two, I start to feel like something vital to the community is missing?

i've never heard anyone voice that lunatic conspiracy theory, "anonymous", and i participate in a stupidly-large number of conversations on this site. if you've heard anyone say it, much less have evidence that this cockamamie notion is believed by more than just you, i'd be curious to see it. since SC doesn't permit any form of non-public communication b/n members, this means that a blog entry and/or comment must exist to substantiate your assertion. of course, i'm making the mistake of taking seriously the comment of someone who lacks the intellectual honesty to sign his or her own name to such tripe. ed
