Who's reading husbandhater (158):
My father-inlaw got an invitation to the Martin Luther King Breakfast held by Al Sharpton. He invited my husband and I along with my 2 oldest boys to experience it. I had to work so they made it a man's day. My family is an interracial one. My husband and his father are of course white and my 1st 2boys(who have the same hispanic father that is semi involved) are being raised in this giantic interracial community we call a famlly. They were getting a history lesson from these from the two people that loved them and in Dr.Kings day would be the least likely to give that particular lesson.

They listened to the likes of Mayor Bloomberg,Senator Shumar,Gov.Spitzer,a hiphop pioneer, the widow of Sean Bell, and many others on the subject of Dr.king and what his accomplishments meant and still mean to us as a people and as a society as a whole. I have my ups and downs and my marriage is no fairytale but at least I have the right to make the decision of who and what I want. This too was also Doctor King's dream and I feel yesterday was what he envisioned. As if my life and the thousands that live exactly like it is what it was all about. It is part of that dream that was so important to not just one man but thousands upon thousands of people. I asked if one man could make the difference? Well this is one instance that the dream and actions of one man D.I.D.

What Hillary missed was that had it not been for the actions of that "ONE" man in combination with many others, the other(Linden B.) would not have cared nor thought to have signed the neccessary Bills into law.
(Which by the way was never made an actual law it is a bill that gets passed every 25yrs)
It took his dream to push us into evolving as a society and as human beings. I think we still have a ways to go but at least we've moved this far.

I was proud of how my boys spent their day. And although they won't appreciate it till they get older I told them they should  be proud and greatful too=)

I just retrieved this that I posted on another blog

I hope it is all right for me to share it here also:

As far as Martin Luther King, there can never be enough good things said that even touches one fraction of what a great man he was.  He did something that no one had done before and no one has done since.  He not only spoke words that freed the "black" race, but those same words, freed the "white" race as well.

We owe him a debt of gratitude, we will never be able to repay.  I will add, if we wish to repay this man for what he did for mankind, it would be to adopt his philosophy and make it apart of our lives, not just a nodding of the head, or an amen, but to embrace it along with his teachings, and actually live those principles that were so precious to him.

I think where Hillary went wrong in her comments, is she didn't want to give any credit to Obama, so instead of denying him any credit, her remarks tended to discredit King.

Everyone knows that he was the pioneer of civil rights, and had he not kept the pressure on the law makers and the presidency, We would still be without civil rights today.   I truly believe, it took him to do it.

My takes on a few things central to me ......
I don't know if I "believe" in New Year's resolutions in general. But given that all this drama has been occurring the concepts presents an opportunity to reevaluate and assess the way I react to situations. I have always been very sarcastic...
