I could have understood this belief fifty odd years ago when all cartoons were Bugs Bunny skits and that resembled the humor of some odd forty years earlier.  In todays world with Anime breaking into drama, romance and every other genre that you can imagine I don't understand why this belief still holds true.  Why do we believe that cartoons are only for kids but equally fantastic (Matrix, Ace Ventura and Batman Begins) are for adults because they feature actors?

most people don't watch anime, sean. me, i'd think you'd do better to point out that shows like south park, which are almost exclusively socio-political commentary, would have changed people's perceptions of "animation = for children".

Children prefer looking at the fantasy than reality... They would rather see the unreal, beautiful world than this real Earth...

Apparently, children are unconsciously escapists... The main reason why they like cartoons...

The case is different with adults (unless you want to watch cartoons). Since we can not escape away from responsibilities, we tend to embrace the real world. This is the reason why we prefer Friends, Grey's Anatomy, CSI (even if sometimes, their stories are not true).
