Dear folks...this is some(well...to be honest, lots):D of wishful thinking on my part...
these are the features that I want to be incorporated in soulcast...
1.The number of unique visitors to my site, in general and on a weekly basis.
2.Presently if a person reads all 5 posts in my top page, it is not counted as a view, since the person has clicked on my name and has not clicked on each individual post, But this does not reflect the true state of affairs, something should be done and it should be reflected in my hits.
3.Sometimes I cannot tag, when I comment, this tagging aspect should be clarified.
Is there some limit? I would like Sc to clarify.
4.In yahoo, 360.yahoo.com, we can know how many visitors have come to our page, totally, totally how many visits we have got, and how many pertain to this week of 7 days, I would like to know my visits like that.. It gives me a sense of accoumplishment and connectivity when more ppl see my posts.
5.In writingup.com, on the top page, we can see the latest comments made, and by whom, (if I remember correct)... I would like that feature to be slightly modified and added here.
5.a. I would like to have a small pop up box in my homepage that alerts me , when Iam online, if anybody has replied to my posts with comments.
6.Also there is a lot of speculation on the clicks we get and what we badly need, SO I would like Soulcast to be more transparent and show us in our accounts page, how much we have made... this would ensure lot of honesty on our part and ensure goodwill too...
7.There are some of dead blogs, I think we can do away with any blog not operated in the last 60 days...

you closed the color tag incorrectly: remove the =red part from the closing tag. i completely agree re: 1, 2 and 6--those would be very helpful. 3: you can only tag the first time you comment. i'm confused about why that is myself. 4. how's this different from #1? 5. there's an e-mail notification you can receive: go to your profile and there should be a method for that. heck, you could probably set it up to text you if you wanted. 7. i think that could be problematic, pruning "dead" blogs. you never know why someone stopped posting here. ed -

When you start, you have to set the color. But to close it you just say /color in [ ]. I'd like a better editor where there's buttons I can press to do all the formatting tricks for me. I'd like to use pictures in my blog. stuff like that. -

1. your adsense account can give you a pretty accurate account for this. Remember that 50% of the time we show our ads so double your adsense numbers to get the real number. 2. adsense will show you this number as well since your ads are displayed on your blog page. It won't count the times viewed on things like the home page. We don't plan to change the accounting of views any time soon. 3. We limit the number of tags on a post to 20 and you can only tag the first time you comment. Tagging is a way to classify a post. Why do you need to classify it more than once silverwhisper? 4. We hope to add more stats for users in the future, but it's not at the top of our list of priorities. 5. We plan to do something like this in the future 6. We do not have access to and can not track your adsense account. 7. We will keep all the content. Why would you want to delete it? @mrhowto rss feeds are coming shortly @everyone :) We are working on a wysiwyg editor, but it's a complicated thing because it needs to work on all browsers. editing comments is a possibility, but we aren't sure that it is a good thing yet. What if you were in a debate with someone and after the debate is over they go in and change all their comments to fix any holes in their logic? What if there is a nice long discussion and then later someone deletes all of their comments in that discussion. Now if someone is reading the "discussion" it won't make any sense. -

I can see the drawbacks to deleting comments moreso than I can editing them, in a way. If you could easily quote someone's comments (via that WYSIWG editor), then it the quote would be there so the holes in logic would still be evident despite the originial comment being edited to fix the holes in the logic. I'm OCD when it comes to being able to fix typos in my posts and comments. I'll get over it when it comes to comments. -

3: re-tagging would be useful if the conversation strays. a lot of the comment-based conversations tend to expand into new ground, IMX. however, i can easily see how that would be problematic: you could have 1 blog entry w/ googads of tags. re: deleting comments, fair point. i've seen discussion forums both permit and disallow that. re: editing comments, that's IMHO still a useful feature. while the kind of intellectual dishonesty you describe is always possible, that is also true of the blog entry to which commenters are responding, isn't it? ed -

mmm thanx, I think OCd is a state where in one's brains, the neural networks, (pathways where information flows as electrical signals between nerve cells ) are too strong, such that the person gets the habit of doing things in a compulsive way, I have read and learned lots about the brain and synthesising science, psychiatry and neuro linguistic programmingand NAc- neuro associative conditioning that I don't accept labels, it just gives us what this symptom is... But I believe that we all have a choice and by exercising that choice diligently, we can surmount any obstacle and make our own destiny... I am going to write on the greatness of the phenomenon of man in the next series,, thanx for the prompt reply,... I like it. -

I agree with everybody...except that I really don't want this place to look like mySpace or any of those other pedophile rodeo's. You guys did a great job, keep it simple for us simple folk. I want a blogland for writers. Programmers and visual artists have a lot of other places to go. I want to feel compelled to write interesting things, not watch pie charts and measure market share. -

I would like soulcast to remain different from other forums and message boards and blogs and journals. Images/avatars are nice, but I like not using them here. I like the focus on writing. The formatting buttons are a good idea. -

I've always emphasized the need for a visitor's counter whether logged or online. It makes a great impact to everyone on the site to see the actual number of people tuned in to what we have to post. I really hope that SoulCast prioritizes this real time counter for the benefit of everyone including the advertisers. -

I would especially like to know how many times , my blog has been accessed, when friends( ppl who have subscribed) read my blog and how many times ppl read my blog from recent posts/featured posts, / my conversations etc... but i think Sc is working on it, and it will take some time to convert these visions into reality. -
