Just as I suspected, the dress just kind of presented it's self to me.
I was in a funky bad mood yesterday, so I decided to do a little retail therapy to cheer myself up at lunch time. I drove down to the mall and went into a store that scares me it's so "upper end". I had planned to make this a window shopping trip, to do some research into what kind of dresses I could find that I would then have to find discounted somewhere else.
I found the special events dresses section and started to look around. Most of the dresses were black cocktail numbers, many very very pretty. I saw my dress on the wall and kept glancing over at it thinking how much I liked it. I didn't go over to see it closer. I assumed that it would be well over my price range and perhaps not in my size. I trolled through the entire department picking up a couple of dresses to try on, and then gave into the urge to go look at the dress.
They had my size, the dress was sorta in my price range (it was on sale) and I just couldn't resist trying it on. So I didn't. I did make the dress wait until I had tried on the other possibilities, but nothing spoke to me.
The dress is perfect. Not a dress a 20 year old might wear. It's an oyster (not white) color and a silky sexy satin. It reminds me of a very nostalgic period, which will be perfect considering the setting of the wedding. Even the length, unaltered, is great. I will need to wear low heels. It covers enough to make me feel comfortable and clings enough to show off flattering curves.
So, I'm resigned to another week of two of eating cheaply now that I've "captured" my wedding dress and it is at home with me. What do you think?
