Winter is firmly entrenched here this evening.  I may be waking up to about five inches of snow in the morning depending upon which forecaster gets it right.  Then there will be lovely 30 mph winds to blow it all around.  I'll be drifted in until the county maintainer comes through, which is usually a day after the storm where I live out here in the country.

I hate that feeling of not being able to get out with my car...especially on a Thursday.  It's my day off.  I leave in the morning and don't get back until nearly bed time.  It is my day to recharge from the life that drains me.  I always feel a little cheated when something happens that I don't get to enjoy that time away. I just spend the day visiting my family, but I look forward to it.

I'm ready for spring.

I heartily second that.  I want spring!  It's going to be down in the single digits over the weekend.

I'm more with Lucy - we never get a real winter here, just a few cold-ish days here and there. Trade ya! I was born in the wrong part of the state, I swear. :-p

I hope you get to go out anyway!

    Mimi,
We are supposed to get those single digits too along with a wind chill.  Lovely.  Let's keep chanting for spring. :-)

    Lucy,
I would love to be in some warmth right now.  :=)  Trade ya!

    Infernal,
That sounds like perfect weather for me where you are.  I only like wintery scenes on Christmas cards.  :-)

    Lucy,
    I don't know.  Maybe she'll give us a hint.  :-)

It was snowing here last night for a bit, so I guess I take back my "we never have winter" rant, at least in part. It's all gone now, darnit, but that was cool for a while!

I hear you, the furnace waited til the coldest day to take a dump.  I am so sick of winter.  Hope I have heat when I get home, didn't last night!  Makes sleeping difficult.

    blue,
I'm jealous.  It sounds beautiful there.

    polar,
I completely understand.  There is something about a nice warm spring day that just makes you feel alive. :-)  Happy Birthday!

    ed,
I can understand that.  I'm ready for it to be over here though.  :-)  I could easily be one of those people who travels south every year for the winter.

    infernal,
I'm glad you got to enjoy some snow for a bit since you like it.  :-)

    Racer,
No heat is terrible. I hope it is fixed for you soon.

    queen,
I love spring more.  Winter is pretty after a fresh snow, but that's about all I like about it.  :-)  I must bloom where I've been planted though.

I'd love to live in a place where it was 70 degrees year-round.  I don't like extreme heat and I don't like extreme cold.
  • CreativeWoman said on Jan 17, 2008....
    Eilan,
That would certainly be heaven for me too.  :-)

CW I hope you have had a good day.

    Alyss,
I agree those temps. would be perfect.

I was stuck at home today.  No day off this week.  I will survive though.

    Thanks,

I'm in the midwest and frankly, I'm ready for spring already. I have to work outside and though I'm prepared for it,  wet or icy conditions really suck. If it only snowed here, it wouldn't be so bad.

The opium poppies growing in a certain fuck-up's yard are doing both good and bad as the recent weather is not being nice to them at all. The goddamn Spring winds have so far destroyed ten of my largest and wintered poppies......
Summer has come and gone so fast. Snow is just around the bend. I need to cut wood and be prepared....
The first rains of winter are just around the corner. Thank god for this! It's been a long hot summer. Obama will be the President in no time, and George Bush the *ass will be *butt a memory....
four seasons in one day...
Almost a miracle...
