What will happen to the democrat party if Barrack Obama is elected president?
After all...how could a country full of bigoted racists ever elect a black man?
This will destroy the race card! One of the most powerful tools in the liberal tool chest.

Of course how will he make policy? If he forces through more affirmative action he will alienate white voters and if he doesn't he will alienate black voters.....it is a catch 22 for him.

interesting point D, worth thinking on that... Do you really believe that it will bring in the race card?
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 16, 2008....
hmmmm....i never thought of that before D6! i will have to think about this!
  • D6fer said on Jan 16, 2008....
lucy.....I'm not sure how this will shake out.....the way I see it...if we elect him....it puts the racism thing to rest somewhat....but he will be between a rock and a hard place in domestic policy issues.

lala....yes do! and then come back and comment!
  • Lucytorial said on Jan 16, 2008....
D when is the election date???

If he does win he's going to be pulled from one end to the other with domestic issues.. lord.. theres enough of them.
  • D6fer said on Jan 16, 2008....
Not until November.....he has to get the nomination 1st though.
  • Lucytorial said on Jan 16, 2008....
ohhh I didn't understand that, its a long time to be out there punting for a vote!! I don't get it.  Tell me if I am wrong.

To get a nomination one has to spend a lot of time (many months) spinning shit
Then there is a nomination vote?????????
Then once nominated there is another vote for the presidency????????

Who forms the parliament?? like the winners circle then the opposition??
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 16, 2008....
i'll think about it and comment in an hour after project runway D6!
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 17, 2008....
you may be on to something with the race card D6...if obama makes it thru to be the democratic candidate, he will have to pick which side to go with...and i believe i heard on the nevada debate that it's not about race for obama....hmmm...i'm guessing his answer would be that he will unite both sides....what could happen is really a toss up! either way, one side will see whatever happens at a loss and will play the race card...geesh
  • pookiedookie said on Jan 17, 2008....

Are you sure you haven't started smoking crack/cocaine?  Obama is going to kick republican butt when he gets in the national election.  You might as well start crying now D6.  We are going to have a man in the white house, this nation hasn't seen since Kennedy.  A man of high ideas and a clear vision of the future, one that takes us into a peaceful future and away from the war-mongering past!

Suck it up, D6.  If you don't think he is the biggest threat to the REPUBLICAN party, then you are dreaming!

  • lalalalalala said on Jan 17, 2008....

wow pookiedookie (duke, right?)!! as someone that likes obama and is considering voting for him, i've gotta say you're impressing me right now! D6 has been trying to get me to reconsider voting for obama, but i can't deny that obama gives me hope for this country!

    :-)

  • pookiedookie said on Jan 17, 2008....

thank you, lalala...., D6 is a very conservative Republican. I think it is funny how the Republicans would rather do battle with Hillary than Obama.  I wonder why that is.  Have you been watching Fox news the past few days?  They are talking up Clinton, and talking down Obama.

Fox news is no friend of Hillary's, but they are claiming "fairness", and saying the Obama camp is trying to use the race card against Hillary (supposedly trying to stir up the blacks against Hillary claiming she made a racist remark)   Both camps have backed away from any such remarks, but Fox news keeps mentioning it.

  • silverwhisper said on Jan 17, 2008....
duke: the reason d6 wants to see hillary win is b/c nothing will get out the republican voters--nothing!--like hillary clinton as the democrat candidate. all the senseless and stupid fearmongering about gay marriage in the last election brought out tons of social conservatives.

but a hillary candidacy would make that look like a drop in the bucket.

Lucytorial: To get a nomination one has to spend a lot of time (many months) spinning shit
Then there is a nomination vote?????????

    Yup, pretty much.

Then once nominated there is another vote for the presidency????????

Who forms the parliament?? like the winners circle then the opposition??

Heh. We don't have "parliament", we have a bicameral legislature. And the president is both the head of state and the head of government.

In the two houses of the legislature, the House of Representatives each member (435 of them) is up for election every two years. In the Senate (100 members, 2 from each state) each senator is up for reelection every six years, but it's on a rotating basis so that only a third of them are up for election every two years.

pookiedookie: I don't think that (we) Republicans are going to win no matter who runs on either side. But personally, I would rather see Obama than Hillary myself.

But I never saw what the big deal about Kennedy was. If he ran in today's political climate the man would be considered a conservative.
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 17, 2008....

duke, it's a good thing I don't watch Fox news...but I feel like I've heard other networks mention the race card too. Maybe, to answer your question, Republicans think Hillary is least likely to win and think she's easier to do battle with. Just a thought. I think that "fairness" claim is funny :-) thanks duke.

  • Lucytorial said on Jan 17, 2008....
tinsoldier, thanks, as a non american whos country has so many links to usa its good to get a grasp on it.

Sounds quite involved and honestly not very democratic...
  • TinSoldier said on Jan 17, 2008....
Well, the more direct democracy is supposed to be at the local levels.

I really don't know much about parliamentary systems or other systems. They seem kind of strange to me... :D
  • DAnderson said on Jan 17, 2008....
    This is my opinion.......
Why would any self respecting American vote for Barrack after the civil rights act was passed? His religion REQUIRES you to be African-American to join! If that is not a racial bigots actions then I do not know what one is. He supports free trade with Cuba and Korea. He is also in favor of looser immigration laws! He is a joke running for president. The sad thing is that he is one of the Democrats best shots. Shows how strong their party is looking right now.
  • TinSoldier said on Jan 17, 2008....
Yeah, because our party is so strong that we have to resort to outright lies in order to preserve the status quo.
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 17, 2008....

according to obama's facebook page in the us politics section, he belongs to the United Church of Christ.

http://www.ucc.org/about-us/our-core-identity.html I think it's worth checking out if anybody is concerned about obama's religion.
  • D6fer said on Jan 18, 2008....
now wait a minute....this isn't a hit piece on Obama....it's a hit piece on liberalism....get it right!  Re-read my post......I actually like Obama as a person....seems like someone who i would like....he is a magnificent speaker....but go look at the website.....after you wade through all the contribution nonsense....there is a well hidden link for issues.....if you are a socialist....then he's your guy! ....but then again....I could say that about all of the Democrat candidates.
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 18, 2008....
TS: i'm reaching for a gorrammed rep button!
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 18, 2008....
hey D6, i know! i'm not the one bashing obama! and because i like him, i had to defend him with that link so the issue with his religion could be cleared up. i know i know...go read his website!
  • kelly said on Jan 22, 2008....
So, D6, you're really ready to admit that you're a fascist?
  • D6fer said on Jan 22, 2008....
    kelly....based on what?
  • kelly said on Jan 24, 2008....
Well, you call Democrats socialists, and you claim to be the opposite of that.  So, you're a fascist.
  • D6fer said on Jan 25, 2008....
    uh....no
  • TinSoldier said on Jan 25, 2008....
Heh. If socialism was truly the opposite of fascism then I daresay we would all be socialists.

However, the two have far too much in common than I'm comfortable with being called either.
  • D6fer said on Jan 25, 2008....
I think that there is plenty of evidence to illustrate where the left is heading in this country!
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 25, 2008....
D6, are they heading to socialism? i just want to make sure i understand.
  • D6fer said on Jan 25, 2008....
    Yes I think so,,,,socialized medicine.....that's a biggie!
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 25, 2008....
oh ok i gotcha D6...i'm a bit behind on sleep so please forgive my slowness
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 26, 2008....
lala, don't rely on d6 to tell you if something's socialist. he sees socialists and communists behind every shrub! :>

    his claims are patently false.

  • lalalalalala said on Jan 26, 2008....
ed, there you go telling me what to think and/or do again. i don't need any little lectures/advice from you, thank you very much.
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 26, 2008....
lala, if you seriously can't see that's true about d6's views, then there's no sense in my talking with you.

    have a good day.

  • lalalalalala said on Jan 26, 2008....
sorry about the little bit of filth above with ed. i already bid him farewell on my post. oh and thanks D6 for dropping by that post. you made me laugh!
  • D6fer said on Jan 26, 2008....
lala....my pleasure! ..and don't worry about it....we're like a big dysfunctional family here!
  • lalalalalala said on Jan 26, 2008....
d6, if i wanted to spend time with a big dysfunctional family, i'd log off of the internet!
  • D6fer said on Jan 27, 2008....
Hey Ed.....you seem threatened by free thinking people.....I doubt that lala agrees with all of my views, but thats cool with me....I put up with you and bloc right?
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 27, 2008....
threatened? that's just silly. should i ask if you're "threatened" by the fact that bush is a vile liar who's eroding civil liberties? c'mon, aren't we past the point by now of questioning one another's motives?

however, you already know you're hardly a centrist, and you do tend to see socialism everywhere. heck, we've discussed it a few times in the time you've been here, haven't we?

    ed
  • D6fer said on Jan 27, 2008....
I will never deny that I am a conservative....in fact I am quite proud of it!
The only civil liberties that have been eroded in the last 7 years are those of would be terrorists.....mine have not eroded.....maybe yours have, since  defending the terrorists are the liberal lefts last bastion of hope in taking over the whitehouse!

The entire plan has hinged on this war becoming as messy as possible and the only ones in this country that can benefit from that are the democrats!

Come on Ed.....where are all of the throngs of "ordinary average Americans" on the national news crying about how GWB violated their personal freedoms?
You are not going to see that, because it is just too hard to fabricate.....otherwise you would!

Now I know that these comments are going to bring the "Constitutionalists" out of the wood work to ask me all of the same old liberal bullshit questions, but I think we all know that liberals only care about the constitution when it serves them to care about it!

As far as Bush goes....I have pointed out many times before, while I don't agree with much of what he has done, I truly believe that you are all barking up the wrong tree in this instance.

Maybe I will do another Bash-Bush post where we can update and get into it a little further, but we have gotten way off target with this one.....it really seemed to de-rail quite early, when people either did not read all of my comments or somehow misinterpreted them!
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 28, 2008....
d6, i think you misunderstood me. my meaning was that i don't go questioning your motives, asking if you feel "threatened". the notion is ridiculous. which is my way of saying that you asking me if i feel "threatened" is similarly ridiculous.
