Well I haven't posted in a long while, kind of tired of writing about my frustrating fruitless search for a job. So, after reading a lot of blogs over the past couple of days and adding comments to some, I decided to write another blog of my own. Imagine my surprise when I realized that I actually have someone subscribing to my blog! :) Thanks Dr. Z (yeah, I'm taking silver's nickname for you). Anyway, I guess I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone since I have started commenting on your blogs. I am 37 (Yikes...when did I get old?), a wife of 12 (OMG) years and mother to a gorgeous 15 year-old (thank goodness she got my sister's looks, I mean I'm not ugly or anything, but my sister is drop dead beautiful!) I just went back to school in May of 2004 and was supposed to graduate in May with my B.A. in English, but due to health and other issues ended up with an incomplete in Shakespeare, so my diploma will read December 2006 instead (If I can get up off my dupa to finish the work - god I hate depression, even though it's medicated). I, like many others here, am a gamer too. I find it funny because until I was introduced to Zeus and Pharoah I was never really into games at all. Then came Heroes of Might & Magic & Neverwinter Nights, which ultimately led to my current obsession, EQ2. I have been known to play this game for 12 hours at a time. What have I done to myself? I like the interaction, but am I really the same person who used to get mad at my husband for watching TV for more than 3 hours straight or at my daughter for playing the SIMS2 all day? I really need to reevalute things. Oh well, if I ever get a job EQ2 will have to go to the back burner, but right now I am doubting whether this will ever happen. :( I could get a job at the local gas station, but I don't need a job THAT bad, luckily my husband makes enough for us to just squeek by - we merely don't have money for extras (like food sometimes - only partially kidding). Well, that's enough rambling for me today, maybe tomorrow I'll post one of my pieces that I wrote for a Life Stories class that I took this past spring semester. Or maybe one of my creative pieces. What would you guys like to read?

Geez, Ajinia--I am sorry! I have been meaning to subscribe to your post. It has been a crazy day. Anyway, if you post those stories, I will read them. I love peer editing/critiquing (not to say that I will criticize). :)

Jade, got two of them up now. :) I wasn't meaning that anyone should subscribe to me. I was surprised and shocked to see that Zayda did. And now you too. Thanks and I hope to become a part of this community like you guys all are.

ajinia: interactions are addictive, but as i think you'll find, you can at least get that w/out monthly fees here. :> post anything you like. maybe a better question to ask is what do you write? :> ed

Silver, I have written just about everything in my classes, and have yet to wrestle the demons from inside me while not in class. :( For some reason the deadlines invoked by classes forces me to write what otherrwise stays circling in my brain.

what that suggests to me is that you don't feel confident about your writing, that desperation is what forces you to commit it to the keyboard/page. perhaps a little more confidence is needed? ed

Silver, That could be the problem as I am very self-conscious about what I write. I am such an avid reader taht I guess I feel in my heart of hearts that I can never be as good as those I read, so why even try? I will try to get over that, maybe posting here will help.

if you do, let me make a suggestion: post it on half page increments. i'm wishing i did that w/ my story--it's pretty long. ed

Ajinia--Why are you shocked? I'm fascinated by what you write; just as I am fascinated by what alot of people write.

Zayda, I was shocked because up until last night, I only had three inconsequential posts about my job search. :) Nothing interesting - especially compared to what I was (and am) reading in posts written by others, such as yourself, Jade, silver, hunter and others. I hope to remedy that though and make it worthwhile to those who are now subscribing to me.

:) I have been through that job search. So, I recognize both the joys and the frustrations of it.

Wish I had some joys in the process right now. :(

Hey: sounds like you just need to create you own job. Don't get bumbed out because there is nothing for you in the newspaper....because there may literally be nothing FOR YOU in the want ads....figure out a way to sleep, game, and take meds to pay bills!!!! In America your career goals can go as far as your mind spans. Mae something up...everybody else does.

LOL. Thanks ella. Actually I am also involved in machine embroidery and digitizing, so I am hoping to get a website up soon so that I can start selling my designs - if I start to make some money, at least a little bit of the pressure will be off. :)

Ohh...I would be interesting in hearing about your machine embroidery and digitizing.
  • Ajinia said on Aug 05, 2006....
Ah, what would you like to hear? I can go on for hours about my digitizing and machine embroidery. I LOVE my Babylock machines. I have done some work for Greek organizations at the university that I just graduated from, I made my niece's christening gown and embroidered on it, I make custom baby blankets that moms and babies love. The blankets are my favorite. I take a character that the child likes (if old enough) or that their room is decorated in and using a picture digitize it. I then stitch this with the first name above it and middle name beneath it on fleece. The opposite side of the blanket is a satin and the blanket measures about 18" x 24". The perfect size for babies and toddlers to carry around without dragging on the ground! For my newest niece, I took my sister's wedding gown and turned it into her christening gown - no embroidery there because the dress was already beaded. My baby sister just got married and I did a lot of embroidery related things as well as regular sewing. I made her veil, garter, ring bearer pillow and purse (with her initial embroidered in white on white). I also redid the flower girl basket and covered the plain guestbook with a white satin that I embroidered with Cinderella & Prince Charming dancing (in wedding attire) that I had digitized from scanning a towel that my mom bought at Wal-Mart. I fixed up her shoes and the pen holder to be fancier than the $5 we paid for them. Also, my mother had bought a beautiful dress for the wedding and had a plain chiffon stole to go with it. I scanned in the flowers from her dress and digitized them and then stitched them onto her stole & a purse that matched my sister's except I put beads on the top of my mom's purse that matched the beads and colors in my mom's dress. One more thing I did for the wedding was to make matching purses for all of us bridesmaids with our initials on them in blue and silver (my sister's colors) on a blue satin that matched the color of our dresses. Luckily all four girls had a different initial for our first names! :) What else would you like to know? LOL

Ajinia: In reference to your writing. I have the same problem you do. As long as I was in school, I was very prolific. Then for ten years (nearly), almost nothing. I came to this site hoping to get feedback on my writing, as well get back into the habit of writing. It completely exceeded my expectations. But I digress. Usually the critic inside my brain is so busy yammering, that I cannot shut it up long enough to write anything satisfying. As it is, I am not quite content with some of what I have put out there, but right now I am just going to focus on practicing. Sorry I am so long winded.
  • Ajinia said on Aug 05, 2006....
Not so long winded Jade. I have written much longer comments. :) Even on my own blogs - see above as an example. LOL I think your writing is very honest and always look forward to reading it.
