Just a passing thought. I was surfing for photos to illustrate the article I'm doing on "government promises" on Wikipilipinas when I chanced upon this photo essay on GMAnews.TV on the 2007 SONA. Suddenly it reminded me of the final paragraph of George Orwell's Animal Farm:

"Twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. No question, now, what had happened to the faces of the pigs. The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."

I was struck by how well-fed our politicians looked... in contrast with the rising incidence of poverty in the country. Is there a reason why they call the congressional allotments (that they are always fighting over, and that they have just denied to Senators Lacson and Trillanes) "pork barrel"?
