I've caught some flack for being wary of Huckabee's faith. It's not because he has faith, but the way her mixes his personal faith with public office. I think this quote sums it up.

"I believe it's a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God. And that's what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it's in God's standards rather than try to change God's standards." source

This is scary to non Christian Americans, and probably many Christians as well. The Constitution was never intended to be a reflection of a single religious doctrine, in fact the intention was the opposite.

Is he a direct descendant of Huckleberry Finn? Or is he just a huckleberry. Amazing how these loonies get to be considered as presidential candidates. As I've said before, the only one I really like is Kucinich, with Edwards a distant second, but whoever we end up with, I hope he isn't just another homo-hating taxcutfortherich, oil industry and pharmaceutical industry shill. And I'd also prefer someone who lies less and isn't a moron.

Considering his feelings on the Constitution and God, I wonder how he feels about some of our greatest founding fathers? If he respects and admires them, he should read their quotes.

Yeah, see, I don't usually have a problem with a candidate's religion, but about Huckabee I actually agree with you.

    Especially after reading this article.

For me, though, it wasn't just his policies but his stated objection to evolution that turned me off to him.
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 15, 2008....
what precisely was his objection? not biblical or something of that sort?

I thought you had posted the video link. Maybe it was bloc.

Maybe "objection" was the wrong word. Just the fact that he disagrees with the theory makes me question his judgment in other aspects of science.

ah...it was bloc, then, i wager: i never post video clips.

    thank you!

Of course, as an atheist, it scares the crap outta me.
